Hello Derby Friends! Sorry for the late post but, we are going to be holding an open speed/endurance practice on Sunday March 15th from 9am-11am (Possibly till 12 if there are enough skaters) for anyone in the area that would like to get a little more time on wheels. Practice is going to ran by retired speed skater Alexis aka Ryder. We will be going over: Ideal track, the difference in Derby Stance vs Speed Stance, crossovers, cornering and toestops, along with an intro to USARS roller derby ruleset.

We really hope everyone can come.

Must be able to provide USARS or WFTDA insurance. All protective gear is required.

Practice will be held at Illini Skateland located in Danville Illinois,

Practice is just $5 (the rink only charges us $5 per skater)

Thank you to everyone who has already emailed with interest!

The consensus of those we’ve talked to already seems to be that Sundays are best. The plan is to organize a Sunday in November when majority can come (we have to have at least 10) and check it out. Then if you think it’s something you can get into, we will schedule regular monthly practices on a Sunday starting in January and just pick up games where we can and/ or eventually get enough people to make multiple teams and play each other!

We have a few people who haven’t played that are local that we will be practicing with separately and more frequently on a different day to get them ready before they jump in. Some of them are former speed skaters so we are super excited about that!

If you could, please give our page a like and follow. Also, if you are interested and haven’t already emailed us, please do so at [email protected] as that is where all future communications will be sent from. Also, if you have teammates that might be interested, tell them to email us! Maybe several of you can coordinate carpools!
