The Bomb Squad was called to Johnstown HS yesterday for the Johnstown Season Opener. It was an interesting meet in the throws to say the least, but our members had a good day to start their '26 campaign.

Back to the training ground to get ready for the next call.

We are going to begin hosting open throwing on Sunday nights at 7pm at the HS track. This is a good way to get some work in during the summer months. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out through this page or Coach Smith directly.

Why Sunday? With every sport fighting for time to work with athletes, Sunday had the least conflicts with other sports.

I don't even know where to begin with this post. I whispered to Andi when I handed her, her diploma 10 days ago that we were not done yet and now here we are at the end.

Andi has always kept things interesting over the past 3 years. In one of our first few practices all I heard about was how bad she wanted to break Rose Mickley's Shot Put record. It became so incessant that I eventually had to ban the word "record". Then during a Sunday throwing session after 35 throws, she popped a big one and lit up with the belief she could do that again. Then we went to Fredericktown for a tri meet and she broke it for the first time. 4 days later, she broke it again at Loudonville(after sliding in the wet grass trying to rush to throw disc and hurting herself).

The following two and a half seasons were filled with setbacks and injuries, but she never quit or allowed what was bothering her to keep her from working as hard as she possibly could to figure things out and keep getting better.

Even tonight, in her last meet, she competed held together with tape, bandaids and bailing twine. She PR'd twice and came within a few inches of moving on to Columbus.

Andi's career accolades:
4x Regional Qualifier
3x Regional Placer (5th, 6th and 7th)
4x District Placer
4x KMAC placer
School Record Holder in the Shot Put at 36'7 and then 36' 10.5

Blue Devil Throwing wants to wish Andi congrats on a great career and good luck as she continues her throwing career at Rhodes College in Memphis.

It was one heck of a night for Blue Devil Throwing. When we left Danville this afternoon, the school record of 36'7 had stood for 2 years. By 5pm tonight, that record would be broken 5x over the course of Brookelynn and Andi's 12 throws before Brookelynn's 38' 7.5" throw eventually became the school record.

It was a great night for both, with Brookelynn placing 2nd and becoming the 1st female thrower from Danville, to move on to the State track meet next week at Ohio State. Andrea placed 5th, missing out on moving on by a mere 2.5". We live by the mantra of doing our best when it matters most and both of these young ladies did that tonight.

Words can't express how proud I am of both throwers for their efforts tonight.

No Fear, No Excuses. Have fun and throw it far!
