Eleven local football players, including four from Danville and were named to the state football writers' all-state team on Friday.
The Pennsylvania Football Writers released all-state teams for Class A, 3A and 5A on Friday. All-state teams in 2A, 4A and 6A will be released Saturday.
Honored in Class A for Line Mountain were quarterback Kaiden Mauer, running back Ian Bates, defensive lineman Max Johnson and linebacker Noah Ringes.
In 3A, Jeremiah Davis of Lewisburg was joined on the offense by Danville's Madden Patrick, Bo Sheptock and Cole Duffy, along with Mount Carmel's Jaylen Delaney and Noah Shimko. Danville senior linebacker Cameron Kiersch was the lone defensive player selected in 3A.
Davis, who broke Lewisburg's single-season rushing record, and Sheptock, who broke Danville's single-season mark, were two of six running backs selected in 3A.
Davis ran for at least 100 yards in 11 of 12 games (only District 4 Class 4A champion Shamokin held him to less than 100 yards), and finished the season with 2,174 yards on the ground and 29 touchdowns. The yardage and rushing touchdowns are both single-season school records.
Sheptiock is on the all-state team for the third time, but first on offense. He Danville single-season records for rushing yards (2,054) and rushing TDs (34) and is the first back in Danville history with 2,000 yards in a single season. He was all-state as a safety at Berwick in 2022 and as an athlete last year for Danville.
Patrick is named all-state for the second year in a row. Hew threw for 2,620 yards and 29 touchdowns against six interceptions. He finished his career as the school’s record holder in every career passing category and the District 4 record holder for TD passes in a season and career.
Duffy, also a senior, made 56 catches for 1,046 yards and 11 touchdowns to help Danville to the state semifinals. Joining him at receiver was Mount Carmel sophomore Jaylen Delaney, who had 63 grabs for 791 yards and six scores.
Shimko was the only local player to earn offensive lineman honors. The senior helped lead the Red Tornadoes to the District 4 Class semifinals. He is a University of Maine signee and is making his second appearance on the all-state team.
On the defensive side of the ball, Kiersch made the all-state team for the third time. A St. Francis (Pa.) signee, Kiersch was a four-year starter for the Ironmen who had 170 tackles with 19 tackles for loss. He finished his career with more than 450 tackles.
Congratulations to our Ironmen!
