A Jollibee documentary started a craving I couldn’t ignore… 😂🇵🇭

Friday night, I made the trip for Chickenjoy, Filipino-style spaghetti, and that signature Jollibee gravy.

Apparently, one visit wasn’t enough. 🤦🏽‍♂️

I went back again on Saturday—this time, I actually sat down and ate inside.

If you’ve ever had a food craving that just wouldn’t go away, you know exactly what I mean. 😂

Maybe it’s nostalgia. Maybe it’s being Filipino-American. Either way… hella sarap! 🍗🍝🇵🇭

What’s your favorite Jollibee order? Let me know in the comments!

I get asked, “Why did you start learning Tagalog so late?”

The answer is personal. 🇵🇭

Growing up, my parents wanted my siblings and me to learn English and assimilate. My dad was in the Navy, my mom was a homemaker, and our family settled in San Francisco’s Mission District. Most of my friends growing up were Latino, and for a long time, I felt more connected to that culture than to my own Filipino heritage.

As I got older, I started embracing where I came from. At 50, I got my Phoenix Bird tattoo as a symbol of rebirth and embracing my Filipino roots. At 60, I got a tattoo inspired by Whang-Od.

I tried learning Tagalog from books… but honestly, I got bored. 😂

So I created Street Tagalog—simple, everyday words and phrases that we can actually use.

Because you’re never too old to learn something new. ❤️🇵🇭

I began this journey thinking I was applying for Philippine dual citizenship. Along the way, I discovered my case was more complicated than I expected—and that’s what this series is all about.

In this update, I share the next chapter of my journey, including my research on the Bureau of Immigration Philippines, my upcoming visit to the Bureau of Immigration in Manila this December, and why the process has taken an unexpected turn.

I’ll also be launching a new Street Tagalog series featuring simple, everyday words and phrases that anyone can use in real conversations.

A special thank you to the Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco for their prompt responses, professionalism, and guidance throughout this process. Their assistance helped me understand my options and pointed me toward the next step in the Philippines.

This isn’t legal advice—it’s simply my personal journey. If you’re exploring Philippine dual citizenship, researching your citizenship status, reconnecting with your Filipino roots, or learning Tagalog, I hope you’ll come along for the journey.

Still moving. Still curious. Still unscripted.

Maraming salamat, peace & Mabuhay!

The year my age finally caught up to the year I was born—1963! 🎉

Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes. Your messages, comments, and support truly made turning 63 a memorable milestone.

It’s hard to believe I’m now 63 years old, but I’m embracing this new chapter with gratitude, curiosity, and excitement for what’s ahead.

A heartfelt thank you to Evelyn for making my birthday so special. ❤️

One of the biggest things I’m looking forward to is my upcoming trip to the Philippines this December! As a Filipino-American, I’ll be documenting my journey, continuing to learn Tagalog, exploring Filipino culture, reconnecting with my roots, and sharing the experience through YouTube Shorts and future travel videos.

Whether you’re learning Tagalog, planning a trip to the Philippines, or simply believe adventure doesn’t have an age limit, I hope you’ll join me on this journey.

Thank you for being part of the Travel with the Boomers community. The best adventures are still ahead!
