GHSA Region Update

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) has announced new classifications for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years as part of a statewide reorganization.

This change adjusts the names of each classification across Georgia. As a result, The Dalton Academy will move from A I to 2A, and Dalton High School will move from 4A to 5A.

While the classification numbers are changing, these updates do not create major changes for our schools. Both Dalton High and The Dalton Academy will remain in nearly the same regions, competing against many of the same schools as before.

These updates are part of GHSA’s routine process to ensure schools across the state remain balanced in size and competition.
