Following rumours of a possible bid by Morocco ๐ฒ๐ฆ, and the possibility of a trio comprising Botswana ๐ง๐ผ, South Africa ๐ฟ๐ฆ and Namibia ๐ณ๐ฆ, Ethiopia ๐ช๐น has expressed its interest in hosting the ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ8 ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฃ OF ๐ก๐๐ง๐๐ข๐ก๐ฆ and has entrusted the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) with the launch of the second phase of construction of the ๐๏ธ Adey Abeba Stadium, with a capacity of 62,000 seats. The Training Ground has been awarded World Athletics Class 1 certification, the highest standard for track facilities.
Ethiopia ๐ช๐น believes that its bid is ideal and better placed in terms of infrastructure, particularly roads and hotels, and that it meets all CAF requirements for hosting the competition in 2028.
