They spotted his ceiling before anyone else did.

Tristan chose to stay in Canada and play at York. That could have been the end of the relationship. Instead they kept making sure schools in the States know his name while he plays his freshman year.

That's the part parents don't expect. The recruiting work doesn't stop because your son picked a different path than the one we'd have mapped.

Three things are killing your son's first step.

The false step, which gives away ground before he's gained any. Hips rising before the feet move, which wrecks his pad level before contact. And a first step so long he can't generate power out of it.

None of these show up in the weight room. All three show up on film.

An undersized guard started 22 games at the Power Four level fixing exactly this.

When it gets overwhelming, get smaller.

Camp's ending, the playbook is thick, school just started. Every lineman feels behind right now.

The fix isn't more. It's two steps in the ground before contact. Hands tight, eyes good, feet running through the block.
