This August heat has definitely created problems.. 😳
I have 3 inch cracks in my lawn that weren’t there before, you can only water so much. 🤦♂️😬
YOUR LAWN DOESN’T CRACK OPEN LIKE THIS BECAUSE IT’S “A LITTLE DRY.”
This is what happens when North Texas clay soil loses so much moisture that it begins to shrink.
Clay expands when it’s wet.
When it dries out, it contracts.
Dry it enough, and the soil literally pulls apart.
Those deep cracks are a warning sign that the root zone is under serious drought stress — and the Bermuda above it can start thinning, browning, and dying.
Before you blame bugs, disease, fertilizer, or w**d control, check your irrigation coverage.
The cracks aren’t causing the problem. They’re showing you the problem.
