Yesterday, I went out to support Susie’s All In Against ALS Casino Night and had a ball! But leading up to it I was in a bit of distress.
I debated about sharing this story but realize somebody might need to hear it. So BOOM, yesterday I got on the scale (like I do on Saturday’s) after my long run surprised to be well under my goal/threshold. Not that I expected to be UP, per se because the werk week was solid and so was my nutrition, but my body just looked/felt its standard. And admittedly, I was side eyeing it a lil crazy yesterday morning out of the shower wondering how peri bloat might effect what I wanted to wear as a lil Chicagoan cowgirl or whateva.
So… fast forward I ate my first meal of the day intentionally before trying on my lil outfit for the night to see if I needed to pivot… and boy did my body shut me up. ☺️🤭
Being back to where I want to be after chiseling off my perimenopause gain has been liberating. But clearly, I still struggle. Which is why I shared this. Sometimes it just takes a little perspective. Body dysmorphia is a real thing and effects those of us on weight loss journeys more than we might realize or want to admit. The key is once you DO notice it, to be kind.
I apologize, body… you look good girl. THANK YOU for showing up for me everyday as your strong authentic, did I mention strong 🤔 self!
