Do you struggle to remember how to tie a bowline? Many people learn the ‘rabbit comes out of the hole’ method when they are children but it never worked for me. I must have been taught to tie bowlines about six times but, after a week or so, I had forgotten how to do it.

"Right now it's basically a museum ship based in St. Mary's City," White said. "The original Dove had a crew of about six to eight and it brought over a lot of the cargo that came to Maryland in 1634. They made a couple trips. It was used for a year or two ... to take cargo up to New England and back. There were a number of colonies by that time; Plymouth was 1620 and Jamestown was even earlier. They traded cargo back and forth a little bit and it sank on the way back to England."

SALISBURY -- In an area so steeped in nautical and marine history, the appearance of the Maryland Dove is a fitting continuance.
