🐾 The Middle School Lady Panthers are back in action!
Congratulations to team captains, 8th grader- #1 Josie Lawson, 8th grader- #2 Sadie Martin, and 7th grader- #9 Zoe Gore and the Cumberland Gap Middle School Lady Panthers on their first win of the season!
⚽️ The Cumberland Gap Middle School Lady Panthers opened the season with a statement win, defeating Cocke County 3-1 in regulation play.
The victory marked a major milestone for the program and showcased the determination, teamwork, and confidence of this year’s Lady Panthers squad.
Cumberland Gap came out strong, controlling the pace of the match and creating several attacking opportunities. The scoring began when #1 Josie Lawson found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, giving the Lady Panthers early momentum. #10 Jaylyn Peters continued the offensive push, adding another unassisted goal to extend Cumberland Gap’s lead.
Cocke County answered with a goal before #2 Sadie Martin, also unassisted, struck again.
Cumberland Gap’s defense held strong the remainder of regulation, shutting down scoring chances and securing the hard-fought 3-1 victory.
Following the varsity match, the JV Lady Panthers continued the success with an exciting performance. #13 Lillian Howard scored a goal assisted by #3 Addie Gilbert, and #26 goalkeeper Jayden McAllister found the net on an impressive goal assisted by #9 Zoe Gore, highlighting the team’s versatility and commitment from every position on the field.
Head Coach Jenna Gore reflected on the significance of the win:
"This is the first time in the 3 years that I've been coaching the middle school that we have beaten Cocke County. This is an incredible accomplishment for the girls."
The Lady Panthers’ victory over Cocke County is more than just a win on the scoreboard—it is a reflection of the hard work, chemistry, and belief this team has built together. Cumberland Gap looks forward to carrying this momentum throughout the season as they continue to compete with confidence and pride.
