Good luck to everyone competing at the 2026 Thoroughbred Makeover! ✨

Looking back on our own Makeover experience with Highest Rank brings back so many incredible memories. 2022 was truly a year of firsts for me, including my first time showing in the Rolex International Ring and my first time competing at the Thoroughbred Makeover.

Highest Rank made it one to remember, earning the highest score out of 84 jumpers and finishing Top 5 overall, along with a 16th place finish in Dressage.

Such a special experience with an even more special horse. The Makeover is such a positive, happy horse show, and there’s truly something so special about being surrounded by so many incredible Thoroughbreds and the people who love them.

Wishing every horse and rider the very best of luck this week! 💚

Horse girls get it ✨ I never take these days for granted, what a perfect fall day 🍂

Stick to the plan, not the current motivation. ✨

It’s a lesson that can never be repeated enough. Motivation will come and go in riding, training, and just about everything else. Some days you’ll feel ready to take on the world, and some days you won’t.

The plan is what keeps you moving forward anyway.

It’s one of the lessons I come back to again and again when teaching clinics: progress isn’t built on always feeling motivated. It’s built on continuing to show up, do the work, and trust the process.

A proud trainer moment! 🙌🏾

Watching my students grow will always be one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

A special shoutout to two young ladies doing some pretty exciting things:

✨ Jessica Kid: I had Jessica for three years at William Woods, where I had the opportunity to help her find the horse she’s still competing today. Now she’s moved up to Modified in eventing and working toward qualifying for the 1*! 🌟 It’s incredibly rewarding to see her find her own teammate and and continue moving up the levels.

✨ Lily Vargas: finished the year as Reserve Champion in the Children’s Hunters!

From moving up the levels to celebrating year-end honors, it’s incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence grow and see them continue to develop as riders and athletes.

Getting updates like these and watching my students thrive long after our time together will forever be one of the things that inspires me most. 💚

Something I find myself coming back to again and again in clinics: our horses are paying attention to so much more than we realise.

Our energy. Our aids. Our pressure and our release. They’re constantly listening to us, even when we don’t realise we’re speaking.

Listen to your horse. They’re always listening to you.

Horses, always. ✨
