An Open Letter to My 14U Team
To my girls,
As this season comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about what made this team so special. It wasn’t just the wins, the big moments, or the memories we created on the field. It was you.
You showed up every day with heart. The kind of heart that can’t be measured on a scoreboard. You competed with passion, picked each other up after mistakes, celebrated each other’s successes, and never stopped believing in one another. That kind of heart is rare, and it’s something no one can ever take away from you.
You played with grit. There were long weekends, early mornings, tough losses, injuries, pressure-filled moments, and countless obstacles along the way. Yet every time you were challenged, you answered by working harder, digging deeper, and refusing to quit. Champions aren’t defined by perfection—they’re defined by perseverance. You showed that over and over again.
What impressed me the most, though, was your coachability.
You listened. You learned. You trusted the process. You accepted challenges, embraced constructive criticism, and never let your pride get in the way of becoming better players and, more importantly, better people. As a coach, that’s all we can ask for. Your willingness to grow made every practice and every game worth it.
Each of you brought something unique to this team. Different personalities, different strengths, different journeys—but together you became something far greater than the sum of your parts. You became a family.
Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your softball journey. Coaching this team wasn’t just another season for me—it was a privilege. Watching you mature as athletes, compete for one another, and represent yourselves with class is something I’ll never forget.
The trophies, medals, and records will eventually collect dust. But the friendships, the lessons, the laughter between games, the dugout conversations, the celebrations, and even the tears—those are the moments that will stay with us forever.
As you move on to represent your high school, never lose what made this team special. Keep your heart. Keep your grit. Stay coachable. Those qualities will take you much farther than softball ever could.
I’m proud of every single one of you—not because of what you accomplished, but because of who you are.
Thank you for trusting me, believing in each other, and making this one of the most rewarding teams I’ve ever had the privilege to coach.
Once a team, always family.
With love and endless pride,
Coach Denise
