The Cubs win two today! 4-1 in game one, 5-4 in game two.

In game one, Ben Bestland toed the rubber and threw a complete game against the Silver Snappers at Greenfield Park. 6IP, 4H, 1R, 1BB, 4 K. 84 pitches.

In game two, Dereck Grosskurth started on the mound for the Cubs, his first in the 50+ league. He threw the first four innings, and earned the win. Matt Delaney came in relief for the final two innings and closed the game out for the save - stranding the potential tying and winning runners on 2nd and 3rd as the final out was recorded.

Highlights at the plate for the Cubs today were...

Wade Staebell with 4 hits, Mike Miller with 3 hits and 2 RBI, and Scott Jensen with 3 hits and 3 RBI.

The Cubs will be off next weekend over Labor Day, as they rest up and prepare for the final stretch of games the following two weekends in September.

The Cubs come up short in both games today against the Stillwater Stallions.

In game one Matt Delaney pitched, going the distance as the Cubs rallied late but not enough. Final score 8-12.

In game two Scott Jensen was on the hill for the duration. The Cubs were ahead and then lost the lead late. Final score 4-8.

Highlights for the day were John Green and Dale Bjerke with three hits apiece, and Nick Egger going 2 for 2 with a double in his M50BL debut.

The Cubs travel to Mounds View next Sunday to take on the Silver Snappers.

The Cubs win two today!

In game one the Cubs won 3-1 over the Chippewa Valley Timbers. Delaney started on the mound, getting the win. Jensen came in to get the final four outs and the save.

In game two the Cubs won 11-1. Jensen started, picking up where he left off. Bestland finished the game, earning the win

Highlights for the day were Bestland’s 3 RBI, Kipkowski’s two doubles and three runs scored, and Moreno’s busy day at the hot corner - handling eleven chances without error and starting two double plays!

The Cubs travel to Stillwater next Saturday to take on the Stallions.

Game day Sunday!

The Cubs split their doubleheader with the Elko Railcats at the new Belzer Stadium today.

In game one the Cubs had a lead going into the final frame but couldn’t hold it - losing 3-4. Matt Delaney went the distance, taking a no hitter into the last inning.

In game two, the Cubs jumped out to an early lead and kept it, winning 9-4. Scott Jensen started and earned the win, and Dereck Grosskurth came in with the bases loaded in the 5th and then finished out the 6th for the save.

Highlights for the day were Dusty Rogers’ 3 hit day, John “Kip” Kipkowski’s 3 RBI and 2 SB, and Ben Bestland’s run saving, diving catch in left field.

The Cubs host the Chippewa Valley Timbers in Golden Valley next Sunday.
