The Hon. Commissioner of Sports Development Mrs Agnes Atsu and officials being lead by the Director of sports Commission Cross River State Coach Moses Agbor and the entire youth team of cross river state were in Church today to commit the Youth Team of Cross River State to the able hand of the God almighty.

The Youth Team is bill to participate in the upcoming National youth Games slated to kick start on the 21st of September 2023 in Delta State. ,the Cross river contingent is expected to depart the state by Wednesday 20th of September 2023.

The presiding State Pastor of Dunamis Intl Gospel Centre Samuel Adokpa prayed for the Youth Team of Cross state athletes and the Sports management officials that they will not only participate in the games but they will come back victorious.

The ongoing ITTF African Table Tennis Championship in Tunisia, our very own Canaan Table Tennis player, 4 times Olympian, Offiong Edem, this evening win her single event from the round of 32.

This championship is part of the qualifications to the next Olympic in 2024 and ranting criteria by the World Table Tennis Federation,currently Offiong Edem is rated 89th position in the world female category in table tennis.

CRS SPORTS COMMISSIONER REINVIGORATES SPORTS

The Cross River State Sports Commissioner for Sports Development has taken a commendable step towards rejuvenating sports in the state by officially inaugurating the Pelicans and Rovers Football Club Committee, in Calabar.

Hon. Agnes Atsu said the development represents a concerted effort to rectify the decline in the state's sporting reputation and to underline the vital role of sports in our everyday lives, hence focusing on these historic football clubs, it aims to not only revive their past glory but also emphasize sports as a unifying and essential aspect of our daily existence.

The commissioner said the initiative goes beyond the scope of football; it serves as a poignant reminder of how sports can be a unifying factor in society. Sports transcend age, gender, and background, bringing people together in shared excitement and competition.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Augustine Ugi, stressed that by investing in the revitalization of these football clubs, the Commissioner sends a powerful message about the broader significance of sports in fostering community bonds, promoting physical health, and instilling values such as teamwork and perseverance.

He said this endeavor is not just about correcting the past but also about redefining how we perceive and integrate sports into ones daily lives, recognizing it as a unifying force that enriches our collective experience, while promising to deliver on their parts to promote sporting activities in the state.
