Race Week Update: Unofficial Edition 🏎️💨

Turns out the track was quiet this week, but my wallet definitely took a high-speed lap! 💸
No track time or main events this go-around—just a heavy dose of bench racing, wrenching in the shop, and waiting on the delivery truck to drop off the good stuff. Upgrades are prepped, fresh parts are waiting to go on, and the rig is going to be dialed for the next gate drop.

Sometimes the biggest battle of the week is just keeping the part numbers straight and the garage inventory stocked. Huge thanks to the home crew for managing the pit chaos while we rebuild!

Big news for local racing at B&T RC Raceway in Crestview!

Check out the video to see the new roof in action. Even after a heavy rain that dumped nearly an inch of water, the track stayed completely dry while the storm rolled right through. The track surface is in great condition and ready for racing once the project is fully complete!

Huge thanks to the City of Crestview and the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council (Bed Tax) for funding this amazing project.

Investing in facility upgrades like this helps bring RC racers and tourist dollars directly into the north end of the county!

Come check it out and get ready for some laps soon! 🚗💨 Track will reopen sometime late September.

Team BSAPP made the trip down to Saratoga Flowood RC for Magnolia X, and while we missed our team manager Stefanie—making it a very different vibe on the road—it was a weekend full of solid racing, mechanical learning curves, and great memories. Halie held down co-pilot duties, helping navigate the drive after we hit the road at 8:00 AM on Friday, eventually getting back home at 2:00 AM Sunday morning.

The event featured a format with 1 round of seeding followed by 2 rounds of heads-up qualifying and heads-up main events. Here is how the team fared across our classes:

Halie Sapp — Future Pros

* Seeding: Seeded 2nd overall in Seeding Round 1 with a solid 7-lap run (7/4:20.892).

* Qualifying & Main: Halie showed incredible consistency all weekend, finishing 2nd in both qualifying heats (9/5:40.611 in Q1 and 8/5:06.942 in Q2) and locking down 2nd place in the A-Main (8/5:01.634).

* Highlights: Halie put up a serious battle against TQ Easton Lee throughout the weekend. While a few minor errors cost her time, she made great strides on the technical side.

* Key Setup Tweak: We tuned her ESC drive frequency down to 12,000 Hz. The change paid off immediately, smoothing out the throttle response and giving the buggy less aggressive punch, making it much easier to drive consistently.

Duane Sapp — Nitro Truggy, Nitro Buggy & +40 E-Buggy

* 1/8 Sportsman Nitro Truggy: Started with a 2nd-place run in seeding (7/4:09.995), then laid down an incredible pace in qualifying to secure TQ in both Q1 (10/5:30.202) and Q2 (9/5:12.013). Unfortunately, main event luck was not on our side—the motor came loose early in the A-Main, stopping the clutch bell and ending the run after just one lap.

* 1/8 +40 E-Buggy: Seeded 6th (7/4:14.033) and maintained a steady 6th-place pace in both Q1 (9/5:27.989) and Q2 (8/5:05.967) to qualify mid-pack. During the A-Main, the pinion gear slipped off the motor shaft, pulling us out of the race early after 11 laps (finishing 7th).

* 1/8 Sportsman Nitro Buggy: Seeded 8th (6/4:29.947), finished 6th in Q1 (8/5:12.341), and 8th in Q2 (9/5:19.686) to qualify mid-pack. The mechanical gremlins struck again in the main event when the clutch bell stripped out, ending the run at 17 laps (finishing 6th).

Despite the streak of mechanical bad luck on Duane’s side, Magnolia X was a fantastic learning experience and another solid milestone for Halie’s growing skills on the track!

Team BSapp Race Report: JConcepts ONS Round 3 🏁🔥

What an incredible weekend of racing at B&T RC Raceway for Round 3 of the JConcepts ONS Series! Team BSapp brought the heat, locked in some fantastic results, and had an absolute blast on the track.

Here is how the main events wrapped up:
🏎️ Duane Sapp’s Track Report

21.5 Indy Stock 2wd Buggy: Put together a stellar performance in the A-Main to lock down a fantastic 3rd place podium finish with a 9-lap run at 5:19.576!

13.5 Indy Stock 4wd Buggy: Started from the number 7 qualifying spot and drove a super solid, consistent race in a stacked field to bring home 7th overall, laying down 10 laps at 5:20.232!
13.5 2wd Short Course: Finished 9th overall with a 9-lap run at 5:28.382.

💥 Highlight of the Weekend: The on-track action in the Short Course class was absolute gold! Had an absolute blast battling nose-to-tail with Ron Vanderkooy and Jimmy Woodley. The racing was clean and intense all the way to the finish line, crossing just a fraction of a second ahead of Jimmy (+0.402)!

🏎️ Hank Hendrix’s Track Report
Comic Class Nitro - Electric: Hank was absolutely flying this weekend! After taking the P1 Top Spot in Qualifier Round 2 (8/5:39.745), he drove a masterful A-Main to secure an awesome 2nd place podium finish overall with a 7-lap run at 5:28.413!

10th Gas Truck - buggy B-Main: Hank battled hard in a highly competitive gas truck main event, starting out of the number 1 qualifying spot. He laid down a very solid 9-lap run at 5:22.238 to finish 7th overall, keeping it right in the thick of a tight pack!

🏁 BSapp Racing Team Race Report: 5th Annual Saratoga Family Reunion 🏁

The 5th Annual Saratoga Family Reunion at Flowood RC is in the books, and Team BSapp is bringing home some serious hardware! Taking on three separate divisions—including two grueling 20-minute nitro endurance mains—was an absolute marathon, but the hard work paid off.

🏆 The Results

👧 Halie Sapp — Future Pros
• Qualifiers: Kept a solid lock on the front of the pack with consecutive 2nd-place finishes.
• A-Main: Showed incredible composure in the big show to finish 2nd overall on the podium! (Fast lap: 32.003)

👦 Duane Sapp — The Triple-Class Iron Man Run
• 1/8 Sportsman Nitro Truggy: 🥇 1st PLACE CLASS WINNER! Fought through a chaotic combined Open/Sportsman grid in a tough 20-minute A-Main to cross the line 5th overall on the track and lock down the Sportsman victory! (Fast lap: 29.129)
• 1/8 Sportsman Nitro Buggy: Put in another brutal 20-minute shift, driving a smart, tactical race to secure a strong 4th place overall finish! (Fast lap: 29.666)
• 1/8 +40 E-Buggy: Took 2nd in the B-Main to earn a well-deserved bump-up into the big show, fighting traffic from the 10th spot to finish 8th overall.

🤝 Huge Shoutout to the Pit Crew!
Running two nitro classes is a true team sport, and we couldn't have done it without the absolute best crew in the facility. A massive thank you to Halie and our Team Manager Stefanie for completely killing it in the hot pits! 🔥

Their lightning-fast stops and flawless fueling kept the engines screaming on the track through both of those 20-minute mains without missing a single beat. These trophies belong to the whole team.

Excited to finally get my hands on the Kyosho MP1OT.🏎️💨💨
I picked it up about a week ago and already got to race it last weekend. Now for the dreaded part: cleanup. Except, this thing is an absolute breeze to tear down!
Removing the electronics tray takes just 5 screws, the motor takes 5, and the fuel tank takes only 2. The whole thing comes apart in under five minutes.
Cleaning has never been this easy! 🙌

Race Report – Team BSAPP 🏁

Definitely a learning day for Duane with some tuning struggles, but that’s all part of the grind and getting faster every race.

Huge shoutout to our youngest team member, Halie! She wasn’t running nitro, but had a tough break with her ESC coming loose and the car shutting off multiple times. She kept her composure, stayed focused, and pushed through the setbacks like a champ.

And it paid off—Halie secured her first-ever TQ AND brought home 1st place! 🔥🏆

Super proud of the grit and determination today. We’ll keep dialing things in and come back even stronger next race.
