Yale Cricket Club ends the Fall 2019 season on a high!

Backed by half centuries from Manik Kuchroo - 52(30) - and Ram Vishwanathan - 72*(53) - and a ruthless team bowling and fielding performance, Yale finished the season with a 119-run evisceration of Harvard Cricket Club. It's now 5 unanswered victories for the Bulldogs against our rivals!

Apart from everyone on both sides who took time out to play, we'd also like to thank Danbury Cricket Club for sharing their ground with us!

Scorecard:

Yale Bulldogs won by 119 Run(s);Yale Bulldogs 185/5(20.0 overs) Harvard Crimson 66/8(19.5 overs)

Yale Cricket had a very successful weekend at the National College Cricket Association Northeast Zonal Tournament!

After losing the first game handily at the hands of Boston University Cricket Club, we rebounded with a 7-wicket win against UMass Lowell Cricket Club and a 24-run win against MIT Cricket

In the semifinals, our top order combined excellently to chase Princeton Club Cricket's total of 130. In the final against UMass Boston Cricket Club, our Bulldogs couldn’t cross the final hurdle in our 5th game of the weekend, and we were forced so settle for the runners-up trophy.

Everyone contributed to an amazing weekend - taking catches, bowling their hearts out and batting with application and responsibilities, while our team spirit shone through the whole weekend.

Yale Cricket Club would like to thank Danbury Cricket Club for allowing us the use of their ground for some of our home games. They have an excellent, well-managed side and one of the best facilities for cricket in the region, and we are very grateful for them for their support as we look to set the example in developing high standards of college cricket.

We will begin with a game against UMass Boston this Saturday, September 28, at 10:30 am. Keep an eye on this page for updates and scores!

Next on Michael’s cricket tour of Bavaria was a friendly in Tittmoning, a small town near the border with Austria.

The match was a “T20 test match” — each team bats two 20-over innings — played on a wicket of wooden boards. Michael made two ducks (sense a theme here?), but bowled his first competitive over, took a catch, and effected a run-out.

Lunch was an excellent chicken curry prepared by the hosts.

Michael Kearney has been cutting his teeth this summer by playing a few friendlies for Munich Cricket Club e.V.. He'll be sharing a few pictures from his time in Germany to get you excited for the season ahead—feel free to reach out if you want to get involved this year!

In this photo, Michael is facing up to his first ball for the club, a bouncer that whistled past his ears. He was bowled the next ball for a duck (not the only time that's happened to him this summer).
