This past Friday, we officially wrapped up our 2025 girls soccer season. It was an amazing season ending with a record of 11-6-1. I just want to thank everyone for your help and support this season. Thank you to the parents, especially the senior parents who helped put together an amazing banquet for the girls. Thank you to the coaching staff. And thank you to the players who made both teams, mod-9 and varsity, what they were. Finally, a huge thank you to the seniors, we will miss you all very much. I wish you luck in life and just know you are welcomed back home as a Riverhawk.

Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer – Game Summary (10/25/25)
The Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer Team traveled to Voorheesville to take on the No. 3 seed in the sectional quarterfinals. The Riverhawks had been practicing hard for this moment—a chance at redemption after an earlier meeting this season.
Throughout the first half, the team created several strong scoring opportunities and showed great ideas in the attack, but just couldn’t quite connect. The halftime score stood at 2–0 in favor of Voorheesville.
Something needed to change. After adjusting the formation at the break, the girls found their spark. They realized this could be their final 40 minutes of the season and decided to leave everything on the field. Their energy, heart, and determination were undeniable as they pressed forward and executed new ideas.
Although the Riverhawks ultimately fell 3–0, they never backed down and played with pride until the final whistle. The coaching staff couldn’t be prouder of their effort, growth, and resilience throughout the season.
Coxsackie-Athens finishes an impressive year with an 11–6–1 record. Thank you to all the parents, players, and coaches who supported the team along the way—and a special thank you to our seniors for their leadership and for making this a memorable season.

Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer Game Summary – 10/23/25

The Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted the No. 11 seed Hoosick Falls for the first round of sectionals on a crisp, rainy evening. It took about 20 minutes for both teams to settle into the match, but once they did, the Riverhawks found their rhythm.

Anna Purdy sparked the offense with a strong breakaway, carrying the ball up the field before threading a perfect through ball to Danielle Deering, who finished it to put CA on the board. Shortly after, Avery Conrad delivered a beautiful cross to Deering, who one-touched it into the back of the net, giving the Riverhawks a 2–0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Coxsackie-Athens maintained possession and controlled the pace of play. Deering completed her hat trick with another goal, securing the 3–0 victory for the Riverhawks.

With the win, CA advances to face Voorheesville on Saturday at 3 p.m. in Voorheesville.

Modified Girls Soccer Recap: Monday 10/20

The Modified Girls Soccer team wrapped up their season at home, hosting the Germantown Clippers. The Riverhawks were led in scoring by Isla Vizzie who opened with a goal only 22 seconds into the match!! The Riverhawks poured on the offensive pressure and controlled the field for all four quarters finishing their season on a 3-game win streak with a final win at home over the Clippers. In the second half the lineup was flipped and our traditional defensive line of Laken Huba, Gwen Harford, and Emma Lambert were shifted to the midfield for and each scored their first goals of the season! The Riverhawks also combined for a team high of 6 total assists.

The squad finished strong with a .500 season and a record of 6-6. Beyond just soccer, the growth and confidence observed on the sideline from the start of the season to the end is something to be very proud of! Thank you to all of our Modified fans, parents, friends and family who were positive all season long. This team was pure joy day in and day out... and a big THANK YOU to our freshmen who acted as our squad leaders and anchors all season long. Your leadership was reflected in every little detail and we look forward to you becoming "Sophomore Strong" next Fall!

Modified Girls Soccer Recap: Friday 10/17

The Modified Girls traveled to the Watervliet Cannoneers for their final road game of the season. The Riverhawks got on the board early in the first quarter when Liv Krstovich found the back of the net off of a solid corner kick from Isla Vizzie.

Piper Cole earned her second goal of the season when Krstovich drilled a ball off the Watervliet goalie and Piper was in the right spot at the right time with a perfectly executed follow up off the goalie deflection to put the Riverhawks up 2-0.

The second half showcased the season-long connection of talented teammates, "Krsto-Vizzie" in the front field as Liv crossed a beautiful pass out in front of Isla and she was able to send it into the net. Isla would later snag a second goal to give the Riverhawks the cushion that they needed as they held on for back to back wins with a score of 4-3 over the Cannoneers!

The Modified Girls host the Germantown Clippers on Monday for their final game of the season! Wear pink to raise awareness and show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer Game Summary
October 17, 2025 vs. Rhinebeck

The Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted Rhinebeck for their final regular-season matchup under ideal soccer conditions. Coming off a physically demanding game against Maple Hill, the Riverhawks were feeling the effects but remained determined to finish strong.

The Riverhawks struck first, with Danielle Deering finding the back of the net off a well-placed assist from Jade Anderson, giving CA a 1-0 lead at halftime. Both squads showed signs of fatigue, but Rhinebeck came out strong in the second half and managed to equalize the score at 1-1.

Undeterred, the Riverhawks responded with another offensive push. Jade Anderson delivered a perfectly placed cross into the box, which Danielle Deering expertly controlled before assisting Payton Slater for her goal, putting CA back in the lead at 2-1.

Rhinebeck, however, wasn’t finished. They tied the game once more and eventually pulled ahead off a well-executed corner kick, bringing the final score to 3-2 in their favor. Despite a valiant effort to the final whistle, the Riverhawks ran out of time and couldn’t reclaim the lead.
While the result didn’t go our way, the effort and teamwork were evident throughout the match.

The team now shifts its focus to next week’s sectional play. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support us—your energy means the world. We hope to see you at sectionals!

Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer Game Summary – 10/16/25
Senior Night vs. Maple Hill

The Coxsackie-Athens Girls Varsity Soccer team hosted Maple Hill for an emotional and memorable Senior Night. With five seniors—Payton Slater, Danielle Deering, Hailey Gibney, Camryn Slater, and Jasa Cruz—who each play a vital role on the team, the evening was filled with pride, passion, and gratitude.

Despite the cold and wet conditions, the Riverhawks came out determined to make their seniors proud. The game began with both teams adjusting to the slippery field, and Maple Hill capitalized early, scoring within the first ten minutes. But rather than backing down, the Riverhawks responded with intensity and heart, playing as though the scoreboard still read 0-0.

Their perseverance paid off in the second half when Hailey Gibney took a direct kick from midfield, perfectly sending the ball to Danielle Deering, who found the back of the net and tied the game 1-1. The energy on the field remained high through both overtimes, but neither team could break the deadlock.

The final score stood at 1-1 after double overtime, marking a hard-fought battle and a game that showcased the grit and unity of the Riverhawks. Tremendous effort from the entire team, and a special shoutout to our seniors—you have left a lasting legacy on and off the field.

Modified Girls Soccer Recap: Tuesday 10/14

The Modified Girls bounced back after a tough loss to the Greenville Spartans last week, traveling to Taconic Hills and earned a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Titans.

From the opening whistle, both teams came out with high energy, battling for control in the midfield. The breakthrough came when Olivia Krstovich sent a beautiful ball toward the goal, and teammate, Isla Vizzie Vizzie bodied the ball out of the air, settled it and drove the ball to the back of the net with a perfectly placed shot past the Titans’ goalkeeper, putting the team up 1-0.

The Riverhawks defense battled in the backfield to keep the Titans off the scoreboard. It was an all-out effort by every player through four quarters of play. Goalkeeper Amelia Conway walked away with grass stains and 12 saves on the day... with the grass stains proving to be the separator!

The lone goal was just enough for the Riverhawks to hold onto the win until the final whistle and will travel to the Watervliet Cannoneers on Friday afternoon!
