CORRECT TECHNIQUE ALONG WITH PROPER BREATHING IS THE WAY!
I’ve both tried and seen many different ways to do every lift. I was fortunate to have a dad that was both very educated and experienced on correct power lifting techniques and breathing for explosive lifting. I studied and was taught by my dad from 8 years old until my training began consistently as a 7th grader. By my sophomore year at Lewis Central I was an extremely experienced lifter and put up a controlled 240 bench at 140 pounds and had the strongest bench pound for pound in the school. (NO MOMENTUM OR BOUNCING, FEET PULLED BACK WITH MY GLUTES STILL TOUCHING THE BENCH, NOT FEET IN FRONT OF THE BENCH WITH YOUR HIPS LAUNCHING UP IN A BRIDGE). Dad, my brother and I don’t count most of the PR’s we see, ours had to be power lifting meet legal. After the 240 bench as a smaller, barely 15 year old, many kids and some coaches paid attention to me and would constantly be asking me for lifting advice, eating and supplement advice, etc. from that point on. I taught people how to do many lifts and exercises, about eating, and vitamin/supplements throughout high school and have continued to do this to this day. I trained clients for free in my years working at our gyms and did train clients briefly for a fee who were friends and wanted my help consistently in order to change their bodies years ago. I didn’t charge anyone I was giving advice to in a gym or trying to help, if they asked, I just helped them.
I’ve spent decades watching what people are doing with their lifting techniques. It is obvious to me with both what I’ve seen going on in many of the school weight rooms and what I personally experience when I begin helping these kids is the simple fact most instructors, coaches, trainers, etc. were taught wrong or developed bad habits on their own in order to improve their “lifts” and are teaching this to all of their students. There is a lot of bad technique both being promoted and taught out there. This is why fronts of knees/knee joints hurt or have been injured already, shoulders hurt or have been injured already and low backs are either hurting or have been injured already. I can help with all of the above and fix the system if these people would swallow their pride and give me a call.
