We LOVE seeing our HYSL uniforms out and about! ❤️🤍📣

These little Hornets wore their HYSL cheer uniforms today to help cheer on our high school football players ahead of their home game tonight! 🏈🐝 We love seeing our youngest athletes showing their Hornet pride and supporting the players they’ll be looking up to for years to come.

And speaking of cheer… 👀📣 Winter Cheer registration is right around the corner!

Registration opens in October, so keep an eye on our page for details. We’d love to see even more little Hornets on the sidelines this winter! ❤️🤍

🏈💗 BIG NEWS FOR GIRLS’ FLAG FOOTBALL! 💗🏈

We are SO excited to see that Texas A&M–Kingsville is adding Women’s Flag Football as an official varsity sport, with the Javelinas set to begin competition in Spring 2028! 🎉

This is a huge step for the growth of girls’ flag football in South Texas. The girls stepping onto the field today now have even more opportunities to keep playing, competing, and developing their game beyond youth sports — all the way to the collegiate level! 🙌

At HYSL, we would LOVE to see more girls discover flag football and be part of the growth of this sport in our community. Who knows? Some of our future Javelinas might be playing right here on our fields today. 👀🏈

At HYSL, the safety and well-being of our athletes will always be our top priority.

Beginning immediately, all HYSL coaches will be required to complete a background check before coaching in any of our leagues. Once completed, the background check will remain valid for one year and will cover participation across all HYSL sports.

We believe this is an important step in creating a safe, positive environment for every child and family who participates in our programs. While no screening process can guarantee safety or eliminate all risks, background checks are one of many measures we are implementing to help protect the children entrusted to our care.

We also recognize that the vast majority of our coaches are dedicated volunteers who generously give their time to mentor and encourage our athletes. This requirement is not about questioning their character—it is about establishing consistent standards and demonstrating our commitment to the families we serve.

Thank you to our incredible coaches for your willingness to complete this process, and thank you to our parents for trusting HYSL with your children. Together, we can continue building a league that is fun, competitive, and, above all, safe.
