Fly of the Week 🎣
Last of the Spring Steelhead Series… and we’re finishing strong with the Sucker Spawn!
This time of year, the Redhorse Sucker start making their annual spawning run. When you see them in the system, that’s exactly where you want to be—because the steelhead are usually right behind them, feeding on loose clusters of sucker eggs drifting downstream.
The Sucker Spawn is a deadly pattern for matching that natural bite and can be one of the best flies to have tied on during the spring run. Simple, effective, and a must-have this time of year.
If you’re on the water and seeing suckers move… don’t overlook what’s following them 👀🎣
