The sixth annual Western New York Walleye Classic in Dunkirk once again showcased some of the finest walleye anglers on Lake Erie, but one of the most meaningful stories of the tournament had little to do with prize money or trophies. Instead, it was about gratitude, service and giving back to those who have given so much for our country.

The 2026 WNY Walleye Classic hosted by Primitive Patriot Outdoors is in the books we outdid ourselves this year. Had some anglers come in from Washington state. We had 7 of the countries best walleye anglers. And last years National Walleye Tour champion fish our event. It was a story book weekend. Our kids tournament was a huge success. Josh Larsen taught kids about gear used, how to jig, different types of lures and bait, and helped several kids arch their first fish ever. We will see you next year. Dates pending…..

Dad and I brought 35.85 lbs to the scales today, finishing just 0.23 lbs behind Mr. Sleeman and the boys👊.

It was a great weekend fishing the WNY Walleye Classic. Time to head home, see my girls, and then start getting ready for the next stop of the National Walleye Tour.

“We had over 200 pounds donated,” said Josh Larsen. ” I want to say around 80 to 90 pounds of venison, and then tons of canned goods. Which was awesome.”
