One Unit Girls 5th/6th Grade Team Shows Championship Grit in All-Day Tournament Run
The One Unit Girls 5th/6th grade team put together an unforgettable championship performance this weekend, battling through a full day of basketball and proving that toughness, teamwork, and resilience can carry a team to the top as they claimed the Gold bracket championship at the Mother’s Day Shootout.
The journey began with an early 8 a.m. matchup that tested the team’s resilience right away. After a slow start left One Unit trailing by eight points at halftime, the girls responded with grit and determination in the second half. Tight defense, hustle plays, and clutch baskets fueled an impressive comeback as they escaped with a hard-fought 19-17 victory.
Game two brought another challenge as both teams traded baskets throughout an intense back-and-forth matchup. One Unit stayed composed under pressure, executing key plays late in the game to pull away for a 33-27 win and punch their ticket to the championship.
After spending the entire day competing, the girls saved their best effort for the final game, which tipped off around 5 p.m. Despite the long hours and physical grind, the team continued to show toughness and heart. In a defensive championship showdown, One Unit held strong and secured a 16-14 victory to bring home the Mother’s Day Shootout title.
One of the most impressive parts of the tournament run was the complete team effort that has become the identity of this group. Three different players earned MVP honors throughout the day, highlighting the unselfish play and depth that fueled the team’s success. Every player contributed in key moments, whether through scoring, defense, hustle plays, or encouraging teammates.
From the first game of the morning to the final buzzer late in the afternoon, the One Unit girls showed heart, resilience, and true team basketball — a championship performance from start to finish.
WAY TO GO LADY ONE UNIT!!!
