It is with heavy heart that we learn of the passing of our friend and mentor, Dr Jeff Hudson. Jeff was the Godfather of Jiu Jitsu in Ohio, and without him, many of us would have never known, experienced, or learned about Jiu Jitsu. The thing about Jeff that many take for granted was that he shared everything. In fact, it was his kryptonite. He could beat you with something dozens of times but if you asked about it he would break it down for you so that it would be hard for him to catch you with it again.

He treated his school as a place where we all learned from each other. It was more of a club than a business. I think that we try to keep some of that, and maybe take it for granted, but at the time it was super rare.

Most information when Jeff was coming up was heavily gated. I remember being at privates where there was a mat wall erected to keep others from watching the private. Jeff paid for a lot of knowledge and shared it freely. All of us in our greater community share that example and are all better for it.

We have a new blue belt in the house!! Congratulations to Sam! Sam has spent a tremendous amount of time training he has overcome injuries, and had a very successful record in competition. We are pleased to see his growth and look forward to his future
