Kalamazoo Nationals Recap!
Taking a positive spin on this because we spent a ton of money and time to be here, and going to preserve the good memories!
β‘οΈ Little Kalamazoo Speedway Quarter Midget Club knocked it out of the park, hosting a national race!
β‘οΈ Being there to see friends win their first national race: Grayson, Bryce, Oliver, Weston- so, so proud! Kinsley getting a jr honda podium was also amazing! Congratulations!!
β‘οΈ The best race family in the world, this weekend especially with some broken cars: going to miss some folks, but a special shout out to Ozzymoto Sports for swooping in and putting Blake's car back together and Myles helping Cole thru tech when he and Blake were back to back races. Bob, Tony and Matt for seeing from afar Cole was going to need to pit for repairs and swooping in and saving his race! Hugs, donuts, lifting cars..so many people who are our family who help our little team, especially when dad isnt there!
β‘οΈ Blake the mechanic. Wow, Blake stepped up SO much this weekend. He was involved in the repair of his car and did work on it on his own. Without hesitation when we decided to go locked on Cole's car for Saturday's cold forecast, Blake pulled off the ratchet and he and Barry got it re set up (thank you Matt Osborne for your watchful eye too!) Blake even had air pressures ready to go for Cole's Saturday race. Every race without dad there, Blake does the important stuff to get the trailer packed. That boy knows his way around ratcheting cars in! As always, this is so much more than a kid driving a race car...
β‘οΈ Carson Hocevar was the best grand marshal! He is such a great person- he spent so much time at the track, signing whatever anyone wanted signed, hanging out with the kids and even flagging a race. He talked to Blake after his extremely unfortunate race and made Blake feel like he wasnt alone with crazy crap happening out of his control during a race. Forever fans of #77 in this home!
β‘οΈ Blake and Cole can wheel broken cars. Neither spun out and they held their lines with cars that should not have been easily drivable. Blake's car was VERY fast on the few laps it was undamaged π«£
β‘οΈ PSA for roof nets- Cole had a car on top of his car during one of the many wrecks (he said he could feel the heat of the other car's muffler om his arm inside his roll cage π¬) That roof net went a long way for his safety!
We have had alot of questions on what the heck went on in the pits during Blake's race. Send mom a message if you want the story- its a wild one (that didnt end well for Blake!) π
Back to the flat track life and shifting our focus towards getting 5 cars ready for Kokomo!
