To all who are sitting at the intersection of Grief and Gratitude on this Mother’s Day, I am holding space for you. I pray you have someone in close proximity who can hug you, pray with you, listen to you, or simply sit in silence beside you.
I thank and celebrate every mother, in every form. I pray continually that you are loved, seen, valued, and appreciated.
To the mothers who wish you could go back and correct mistakes, be more present, or raise your children differently, if you have the ability and access, a sincere apology paired with consistent action can go a long way. Do it while you still have breath in your body.
To the children and adult children especially, forgive where healing permits. Maintain healthy boundaries and remember that sometimes people simply have done what was or was not demonstrated…
*Do not allow guilt, shame, rejection, or unresolved pain to become a permanent resident in your life or bloodline.
I have been blessed to have had an exceptional Mother and friend.
I am grateful to be the birth mother of the two God blessed me to carry, an auntie mom, foster mom, and a spiritual mother.
To every son and daughter who has trusted me and loved me as I have loved you in return, thank you deeply.
I thank God for each of you.
I LOVE YOU BEYOND,
~AV (Mom, Mama Ve)
Happy Mother’s Day!
