This spring, the Militia boys chose the hard road. So far they have competed in Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kentucky… playing in four AAA/Major Perfect Game tournaments: three Super Regional NITs and a State Tournament, chasing competition, not comfort.
These boys all come from one small town: Columbia, Tennessee. No roster built from multiple counties. No players pulled from multiple states. Just a group of boys from our community choosing to line up against some of the best competition in the region.
Along the way, they’ve faced 4 of the Top 5 ranked teams in the Southeast region (TN, GA, FL, AL), with 3 of those teams ranked in the Top 20 nationally, including programs built from talent across multiple cities and even multiple states.
Have we won every game? No, but rings have never been the goal. The goal is growth. Development. Competing against the best. Learning to battle. Learning what it feels like to step on the field against elite teams and keep showing up anyway.
These boys have done exactly that. The hustle. The grit. The baseball IQ. The way they support each other, fight for each other and keep asking for tougher competition… that’s the WIN!
More than anything, these boys just love the game. They love competing, being together, cheering each other on and showing up for one another, on and off the field. The brotherhood they’re building matters just as much as the baseball.
We’re not here chasing easy schedules or easy rings. We’re building ballplayers, teammates, toughness, confidence and young men willing to line up against anybody and we’re not done yet.
More tournaments ahead. More tough competition to chase. More opportunities to grow, all leading us to Destin to finish this season the same way we started it: determined, together and ready to compete. Proud is an understatement.
