T.J. Smith/Scot Brown knew they had some work to do when they arrived at Harrisburg, Pa., for the Boot Barn First Frontier Circuit Finals Rodeo.

They were about $5,000 behind the regional leaders, Chase and Riley Quynn of Schuylerville, N.Y., so Smith and Brown didn't necessarily need a Hail Mary heave; consistent work over the four-round championship might do the trick.

Confident in the match-up, he trusted the rhythm of the ride ahead, posting a 90-point ride aboard Powder River Rodeo's Sour Patch to claim the championship. The ride secured Campbell his first victory of the 2026 PRCA regular season and ranked among the highest-scoring rides of his career.

Karen Vold, the 2016 recipient of the Donita Barnes Lifetime Achievement Award and wife of ProRodeo Hall of Fame stock contractor Harry Vold, passed away Monday, Jan. 12 at her family's ranch in Fowler, Colo. She was 86.

At just 14 years old, Karen Vold entered her first rodeo as a trick rider. That day jump started her career to become one of the best trick riders in PRORODEO.

Stetson Wright and his family took over the 2025 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, as he went on to win gold buckles in bull riding and all-around, bringing his world championship total to 10.

The youngest Wright of the bunch, Statler, made a push in saddle bronc riding and captured his first gold buckle, beating out Ryder Wright in second and Stetson in third in the final PRCA | Bill Fick Ford World Standings.

Hall of Fame tie-down roper Glen Franklin passes away at 89

ProRodeo Hall of Fame tie-down roper Glen Franklin, a three-time RCA World Champion, passed away Jan. 3 at his home in House, N.M. He was 89 years old.

Franklin set a new standard for tie-down roping, winning several major RCA, later renamed to the PRCA, rodeos throughout his career, including Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days (1967), the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo (1965, 1970) and the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo (1965), among others. He was also a three-time champion at the National Western Stock Show & Rodeo in Denver (1958, 1965, 1968) and the Grand National Stock Show & Rodeo in San Francisco, Calif. (1957, 1961 and 1962).
