When we started building Swimcloud Meet Manager, I thought in terms of features. Timing system integration. Live results. Online entries.
Not anymore.
Jess Hessel is the head coach at University of Nebraska at Omaha. One assistant. No dedicated aquatics staff. Which means when there's a home meet, Jess isn't just coaching — she's setting up the timing system, doing entries, making sure the volunteers know what to do, and even, I found out, calling the electricians when the scoreboard goes on the fritz.
She said two things that stuck with me.
The first: Instead of wrestling with technical issues before meets, Swimcloud has allowed her to coach. "Our whole team has kind of appreciated not seeing me stress behind the computer, and actually being able to coach and give them feedback.
The second: She gets to spend more time with her family. "The amount of time that I save is crucial for me. I'm not working at night when I want to be with my family for an hour or two. It really does just create better quality of life for me."
That's not something I anticipated when we built this, but hearing Jess say it, I think that's the whole point.
If you're nervous about switching from Hy-tek, we've got two more sessions this month. It's not a sales presentation, just coaches talking meets.
