CONGRATULATIONS, ROBERT CUSTER!
ATLANTIC INDOOR ASSOCIATION
HALL OF HONOR, 2024 INDUCTEE

On Saturday, April 6, 2024, Robert Custer was inducted into the Atlantic Indoor Association Hall of Honor during AIA North Championships at Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA. He became only the 36th inductee since the organization was founded in 1994.

Robert has served as the Guard Director at Colonial Heights High School since Summer 2002. The CHHS Winterguard program, under his direction since the 2003 season, has been named CONCEPT WINTERGUARD since 2005. Previously, Robert served as the Guard Director at Midlothian High School (2000-2004), Varina High School (1999-2001) and J.R. Tucker High School (2004). He also performed in two Independent guards, Revelation (1999-2000) and Innovation (2002), before he joined the Instructional Staff for Innovation (2003-2004).

Atlantic Indoor Association facilitates competitions throughout Virginia and North Carolina and serves more than 200 member units – including Winterguard, Percussion and Winds groups. The AIA Hall of Honor recognizes those notable individuals who have contributed to the legacy of success in the circuit – including current and former AIA Directors, Instructors and Judges as well as AIA Leadership, Board Members and Staff. AIA seeks to recognize individuals who have given most of their lives to supporting the indoor performing arts while influencing and inspiring many of the next generation of talented instructors and performers in the Winterguard, Percussion and Winds activities within AIA and WGI. Nominations are reviewed by the AIA Board of Directors and current AIA Hall of Honor members.

Concept Winterguard delivered their strongest performance of the season and earned a 5th place finish at the AIA North (VA) Championships on Saturday night! The team wishes to thank the John Champe HS Winterguard and the JMU Nuance Open Winterguard for their help during our performance. The members and staff of Concept Winterguard also extend a heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to all the guard parents (and Grandma!) whose support made this season possible and whose generous contributions helped make AIA Championships (in particular) such a fun and positive experience! We appreciate you!

Concept Winterguard performed at the South County competition on Saturday and earned a very close 2nd place finish! The team wishes to thank the John Champe HS Winterguard and the Rock Ridge HS Winterguard for their help during our performance. AIA North (Virginia) Championships is this coming Saturday (March 30) at Mt. Vernon High School (Alexandria). Our scheduled performance time is 8:16 PM. Come join us!

Concept Winterguard invites you to attend our performance at the CHHS Fine Arts Festival next Tuesday night (3/19)! Our team is currently expected to perform near the end of the event (approximately 8:30 PM). Admission is FREE, so please come join us!

Concept Winterguard earned a Finalist spot at the WGI Richmond Regional last Saturday and finished in 9th place (of 24 teams) competing against some very talented groups from North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, and Virginia! The team wishes to thank the JMU Nuance guards and the James Madison HS Winterguard for their help during our performances! Our next competition will be at South County HS (Lorton, VA) on 3/23 - our last competition before AIA North Championships. Come join us!

Concept Winterguard delivered a beautiful performance and earned a 2nd place finish at the Forest Park competition yesterday! The team wishes to thank the James River High School Winterguard and the George C. Marshall High School Winterguard for their help during our performance. Our next competition will be next Saturday (March 2) at the WGI Regional held at Powhatan High School (Powhatan, VA). Come join us!

Concept Winterguard earned a 1st place finish at their first competition of the season today! The team wishes to thank the Robious Middle School Winterguard and the James River High School Winterguard for their help during our performance. Our next competition will be on February 2 at Potomac Senior High School (Dumfries, VA). Come join us!

2018 AIA NORTH - SCHOLASTIC A1 BRONZE MEDALISTS!
Concept Winterguard delivered a strong performance and earned a 3rd place finish at the AIA North (VA) Championships last night! The team wishes to thank all of our parents who helped with our dock props! We also thank the Tuscarora HS Winterguard and the John Champe HS Winterguard for their help with our floor. And finally, a HUGE thank you to all of the Concept alumni team members and parents who made the trip (both near and far) to spend the day with us and support this team – including (and especially!), the families of both Diane Chapman and Don Kennedy!

The team wishes to thank the Potomac Falls HS Winterguard and the Luray HS Winterguard for their help during our performance. AIA North (Virginia) Championships is only two weeks away, April 7, at Mt. Vernon High School (Alexandria). Come join us!
