Hello all, just a little update on the status of the club! Due to COVID-19 closures last spring, the staff in the SALD office got furloughed. We submitted a club application well before that point, but they still have not approved us yet. After several emails, we were told that the Joint Club Board would start meeting “soon” and review our application. Club activity will not resume until the end of September due to COVID restrictions on gathering in large groups, but that doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of the great weather! Although this has been an incredibly frustrating process, we have still been riding bikes together unofficially.
Earlier this fall, four Johnnies went up to Cuyuna and spent the day mountain biking. Additionally, one of our CSB cyclists completed her first 60 mile ride this past Saturday! Her and I rode the first 30 miles together and we ran into a Johnnie alumni who recognized the CSB/SJU Cycling jersey.
My time at CSB/SJU will end in May, but there are several Underclassmen who expressed strong interest in maintaining the club once I graduate. I hope that despite our rocky start, this club stays active again.
