🦄That being said, we have found someone we trust to put our boy back into work and we are so excited to try and get him going again. Some know, but many don’t… he was doing really well as a young horse, but has been on a several year hiatus as far as his riding career is concerned.
🦄To give a little background, he was started in both the barrels and roping, but after many gut feelings, tests, and unanswered questions we ended up finding a reason things weren’t quite right..a tiny piece of metal had somehow migrated to his left front fetlock joint 😳. This of course needed to be surgically removed. The metal fragment was so tiny, it only showed up via scope and was not visible on any of the previous X-Rays or MRIs. Through this entire process our boy was so sweet and kept trying so hard to be the best boy. He was never mean or angry even though he was undoubtedly in pain. Ultimately, this led to a lengthy recovery as that joint had gotten infected through this unfortunate incident and did not fully respond to antibiotics until we found the underlying root cause. There was never any visible external cut, blood etc. Just a freak horse incident that we are so grateful our vets continued to push for answers on and that they didn’t give up on us or on him.
🦄Please send some prayers and good thoughts our way. Trip has had a lot of time off and we are hopeful to get him going again, but ultimately we don’t know how that process will go and how that joint will respond. We will give it our best effort and let him tell us how it’s going. His comfort will always remain our number one priority. Either way, we love our boy and are so excited about his babies and the amazing feedback we continue to receive on them. Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey and bred their nice mares. 🫶
