Getting to know Coach Kimmi
Kimmi began skating when she was five in Fairbanks, Alaska. As a teenager, she moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, to train in a more competitive environment, where she spent over a decade honing her skills under the guidance of world-renowned coaches and Olympic champions. After graduating from college, Kimmi wholeheartedly embraced the role of coaching. She has competed nationally and internationally, as well as performing professionally worldwide with W***y Bietak Productions/Royal Caribbean. Over the past 18 years, Kimmi has refined her coaching skills across Washington, Idaho, Utah, and Montana. Her most recent two-year stint as Skating and Show Director in Whitefish, MT, proved pivotal in gaining insight into how to effectively and quickly develop a wide range of young skaters in a grassroots program. Before returning to North Idaho with her husband to be closer to family, she gained valuable experience. With a diverse and comprehensive skill set, Kimmi effectively guides skaters of all ages in both competitive and recreational settings. With a coaching philosophy of "consistency breeds success," she emphasizes figure skating-specific off-ice training, strong skating fundamentals, spins, and thorough jump technique. Ultimately, Kimmi hopes to instill a joy of skating through sound technique, creating lifelong skaters.
