What if we switched the narrative?
What if you said one thing you’re grateful for about your body every day? What if we learned to love our bodies and appreciate them?
Even if you’re not physically where you’d like to be - does your body not deserve kindness or appreciation?
If a friend isn’t making good choices, do you talk down to her, demean her, or ignore her until she changes?
My guess is no. That’d make you a horrible friend. So…why do we think it’s okay to talk to ourselves that way?
For me personally - I wasted so much of my life allowing that negativity and self hate live rent free in my head. It took me away from enjoying the present, seeing the good all around me, and never left me feeling encouraged. Life’s too short to miss out just because I didn’t think I was living up to ideal physical image “culture” was telling me was most desirable.
You are beautiful and magnificent just as you are!
And it’s also okay to put in the work to stay healthy or improve your health. It’s all apart of taking care of the one body we get.
We can’t expect our home or car to last if we never clean or service it. So why would we expect the same from our bodies?
So maybe stand in front of that mirror naked and see the beauty and not the flaws. Only YOU can control the narrative that plays in your head.
