Cagles Mill Lake has dropped about 2 inches. Lieber State Park boat ramp is currently the best option for launching boats.

Cunot boat ramp upper parking lot is still usable, but you’ll need to back your truck and trailer tires into the water to launch. The Cunot courtesy dock is still not accessible.

Cagles Mill Lake may be flooded 13 feet over winter pool, but there’s still plenty of beauty around the lake.

Here’s something for the bird lovers. Next time you’re walking through Lieber State Recreational Area or around the Cagles Mill Lake, slow down for a minute and enjoy nature. These Red-headed Woodpeckers were putting on a show, nature never stops.

This morning the bite was flat-out stubborn. These 2 gentlemen got introduced to the “Cagles Mill Lake d**k patrol.” Tiny fish were everywhere.

The evening trip was a different story. The fish finally started waking up and while the bite was still a little sluggish, the size improved big time with a few solid thumps mixed in.

Fish were caught from 8 ft to 24 ft using a little bit of everything:
🎣 Casting & reeling
🚤 Trolling
📺 Livescope hunting

Some days you grind for them, some days they thump back. That’s fishing.

The lake looks to be stabilizing around 13.8 ft over winter pool. The Lieber State Park ramp and about half the parking lot are still available.

Courtesy dock is accessible
Expect a little ankle-deep water getting to it
Take your time launching and loading

Cagles Mill Lake Update

The lake is currently sitting about 13.6 feet over winter pool (636.0) and 10.1 ft over summer pool (639.5).

✅ Lieber State Park ramp and parking lot are still usable
🌊 Beach shelter is half underwater
🎣 Fishing pier is floating well away from shore
👀 Water clarity actually looks pretty good

Windy evening, but the fish still showed up. 🎣

Managed some fun white bass action and a few solid crappie. Looks like a lot of the crappie have spawned out. Most fish were caught either jigging or casting in 19ft to 25ft.

This morning’s trip didn’t disappoint. 🇺🇸🎣

Started with a run up the creek to the falls, watched bald eagles snatching fish from the water, then bounced around the lake chasing lockjaw crappie before finding a few willing to eat.

This Marine and Army guy managed to put some dinner in the boat and make a few good memories along the way.

Fish were caught slow near the bottom on Ol’ Blue Tackle plastics.
