CLASS 1A STATE CHAMPS

BACK TO BACK STATE CHAMPS!

The adversity this team went through not many know about.

What these girls consistently do year round and the sacrifices they make truly showed this season!

We are so proud of these girls!

The mixture of senior leadership and our younger girls who play with a poise like collegiate softball players was truly a joy to watch this season!

To the seniors,

Hannah Wagness, Sydney Lovrien and Paige Kampman congratulations on doing what many outside of Clarksville thought was impossible! BACK TO BACK!

These are 3 wonderful people that are going to be deeply missed!

Nothing in life is ever guaranteed, you just gotta put yourself in the best position possible to be successful and this program always puts themselves in the best position to have success because they grind and there love for the game and each other radiates off the diamond!

Spirit Lake Team Camp / Team Bonding Day 3

Game 1 vs South O Brien 26-50 loss

Game 2 vs GTRA 33-47 loss

Game 3 vs Spirit Lake JV 54-32 WIN

The Indians go 1-5 on the weekend. This weekend however was not about wins or losses.

HEADING HOME…

The coaching staff got together at the end of last season and assessed and asked a couple of questions.

How do we make basketball fun?

How do we build better relationships outside of basketball where our guys can see us coaches outside of athletics and vice versa with our guys.

As a coaching staff we are cognizant of how long the basketball season is on our guys mentally. The amount of work we also do in the summer is a lot as well.

So how do we reward our guys for their hard work?

So we asked the above question with how do we make it where all kids want to get in the gym and have something to look forward to at the end of the year and we found the spirit lake team camp and decided to go above and beyond to get this done for our guys to get away from home and just enjoy our time together.

We hope our players enjoyed this trip as we feel like this will be something they talk about for years to come

These 4 parents were the moms and dads away from home the past 3 days and words can’t quite express how thankful we are for all they’ve sacrificed in the last few weeks to make things behind the scenes run smoothly

To our head assistant coach Ethan Schmidt…

Thank you! It’s been a lot of work this summer and a unique week as Coach Schmidt stepped up and ran this trip all by himself. This trip wasn’t suppose to be thrown onto him like this but we couldn’t be more proud of the way Coach Schmidt has shouldered the burden and didn’t complain and did what was needed. The growth Coach Schmidt makes everyday as a person and Coach is one our young people should look up to. Our kids are so lucky to have such a hard working man and Coach who was a MULTI SPORT athlete in high school giving back to his community. I don’t think people realize that coaches are human, Coach Schmidt does a lot behind the scenes, takes time away from his job, family and we want him and his family to know how much we appreciate his time away from his family and job to help other peoples children get better as athletes and people year round.

This is what the off season is all about!

Making basketball fun for our guys as they sacrificed a lot in season to make this trip possible.

They EARNED this trip the good old fashioned way! Through hard work and sacrifices and are being rewarded by having fun off the court and getting better while having fun on the court!

Why play basketball year round, because it’s FUN! The grind is fun, the process is fun, Competition is fun, but committing and sacrificing to basketball year round puts you in a better position to have success in the regular season, but most importantly this trip will be something that’s brings our guys closer together off the court which leads to an unbreakable connection and bond in life!

Day 1 Spirit Lake Team Camp (Yesterday July 16th)

The team spent time on the lake out on a pontoon and did some swimming / floating around!

Later on yesterday evening the team went out to eat, played some GAGA ball and even got a pick up game in with some of the locals

Clarksville Varsity Boys Basketball Summer Shootout

Played 3 total games today and got to see a lot of positive improvements.

We went up against full court man, half court man, many different half court zones and seen a lot of positives with areas we still need to improve in.

Went 1-2 on the day but the growth that has been made is showing.

We cannot thank our amazing volunteer workers today who helped with concession stands, gate fee and noticing a few things to help keep courts cool!

To our parents and players, thank you for sacrificing time out of your weekend to come watch and play the game we love and get better! It truly means a lot.

To the opposing teams that signed up today. Thank you so much! Your coaches, players and fans were all respectful and the players worked hard. Lot of high quality people packed in the nicest gym in northeast Iowa.

Scrimmage vs Oelwein & Nashua Plainfield

Game 1 vs Oelwein

40-37 win

Proud of our guys as we had some better ball movement compared to our last team camp from a week ago.

Guys played free on the offensive end and we are seeing individual improvements from all our guys which leads to collective success

Game 2 vs Nashua Plainfield

25-20 loss

We played back to back and only had 6 guys

We do have to commend our players that showed up and fought through fatigue while still seeing some positives.

We were just gased and ran out of steam.

We have 2 more opportunities for team improvement before our summer shootout on Saturday July 11th.
