Hockey Officials of Alaska Hockey Officials of Alaska is a dedicated officiating scheduling organization committed to fostering growth and development for all officials.

Our mission is to enhance the sport by building skills, and ensuring a positive impact on the hockey community. Hockey Officials of Alaska is a Referee Service / Scheduler for profit company, that follows ALL USA Hockey guidlines. We are Christian company. Currently Hockey Official's of Alaska provides services for the Sarvis Adult Hockey League, VETs Adult Hockey League, and MGHA Adult Hockey Leauge at the Subway Sports Centre. SARVIS ADULT HOCKEY LEAGUE

- Tag-up offsides rules apply.

- Two Certified USA Hockey Officials will be on the ice at all times.

- Any player assessed a game misconduct is ejected from the game. This player may not play in ANY games with ANY league teams until a two-game suspension has been served with the team from which he/she was suspended. The player's name is turned in to the league supervisor.

- Any player who receives three penalties in a game is ejected for the remainder of that game. That player is ejected from the current game only and his/her player card shall be returned at the end of the game unless receiving a game misconduct penalty.

- Slapshots are not allowed at all.

- Any shot taken with the stick above the waist is considered a Slapshot and will be blown for high stick.

- Games are three running clock periods of 17 minutes.

- With a running clock, a player whose penalty expires during a stoppage of play must wait until play resumes before returning to the ice.

- NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED ON THE PLAYERS' BENCH AT ANY TIME, IF ALCOHOL IS FOUND THE TEAM THAT COMMITTED THE INFRACTION WILL BE GIVEN A FORFIET/ LEAGUE SUPERVISOR WILL BE INFORMED. 🏒 NEW FORMAT. OPENING-NIGHT OOPS. LET’S CLEAR IT UP. 🏒

Tonight was our first night out of the gate with the updated game format for Northern Lights Adult League by Premier Hockey Leagues and The Chill Alaska.

And, well… we had an oops. 😅

In our defense, we’re hockey officials.

We’ve been told for years that we’re blind and don’t know the rules, so apparently somebody decided it was finally time for us to live up to the reputation. 😂🦓

All jokes aside, with new procedures come a few growing pains, and we want to make sure players, teams, scorekeepers, and officials are all working from the same information moving forward.

So here’s the official rundown:

⏱️ GAME FORMAT
3 × 15-minute periods

The clock runs throughout the game, with stop time during the final 2 minutes of the 3rd period when the game is within 2 goals.

🚨 TIED AFTER REGULATION?
4 minutes of 4-on-4 sudden-death overtime.

🥅 STILL TIED?
3-person shootout, followed by sudden-death rounds if necessary.

📊 3-2-1 POINT SYSTEM

3 points — Regulation win
2 points — OT/Shootout win
1 point — OT/Shootout loss
0 points — Regulation loss

We’ll own the opening-night hiccup, get it corrected, and make sure we’re consistent moving forward. Message has been sent out to our team to make sure we align.

Voting is a privilege and an opportunity to take part in the communities we live in, work in, and serve. No matter your political affiliation or who you support, we encourage everyone to get out there, participate, and make your voice heard.

Hockey Officials of Alaska only exists because of this incredible hockey community.

Truth is officiating isn’t always easy and can be rather hard at times.

It takes courage to put on the stripes, make the call, learn from mistakes, and come back for the next game. We’re grateful for every person willing to take on that responsibility and for everyone who encourages and supports our officials along the way.

We’re are so proud to serve Alaska hockey, and even more grateful to be part of its future.

Meet Justin Bailey.

For Justin, officiating is about more than making calls. It’s about giving back to the game and serving the Alaska hockey community. Every time he steps onto the ice, he’s helping create a fair, and competitive environment where players can develop and thrive.

Like many of our officials, Justin enjoys the flexibility that officiating provides. He can choose the games that fit his schedule, earn extra income doing something he loves, and stay connected to the sport that’s given him so much.
