We had to take advantage of the chance to coordinate a visit for Lucas at his K-8th grade school's auditorium. The bond we've built with this FXW community since our first Joy in the Journey Basketball Camp has been incredible. When Lucas lived his 8th-grade yearbook "Dream Job" dream this season, organizing this Assembly Day was a no-brainer. The excitement of the kids and the emotional reactions of Lucas' teachers made it unforgettable.

It's experiences like these that highlight the impact Hoops & Roots has on communities through its athletes.

Ray’s annual xmas eve open gym @ Newman

this event is one of the basketball community’s favorite traditions in our hometown.. & it’s always great vibes all-around no matter what school these athletes played for. we love what this sport can do for people & communities!!

I don’t get home often, so being back for Christmas meant catching as much basketball as I could. This was a Newman high school boys away game in a small town gym, full of familiar energy and moments that felt grounding. Ray, my stepdad, coaches the team, and nights like this are a big part of my roots and why I fell in love with basketball in the first place. ☺️

We teamed up with and to host a community breakfast filled with familiar faces, conversation, and connection that carried the same energy we’ve felt all summer.

Huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to share a meal and support The Children at the Crossroads Foundation and to our friends at Egg Harbor River North for making it feel like home (as always).
