๐ LMS Chicago โ Round 3 Wrap-Up
From solo standouts to last-ball heroics, Round 3 had everything including the wind and cold. Letโs break it down:
Chicago Swans ๐ฆข v Louisville Sloggers โพ๏ธ
Classic Chicago conditions kicked things off โ windy and wild. The Swans won the toss and took the bat, but the Sloggers were ruthless with the ball from ball one. Mohammed Umar Swadi (0/7 off 4) was surgical, choking the run rate, while Salman Syed (2/19 off 3) and Muhammad Abdallah (2/12 off 3) ripped through the top order like a hot knife through butter.
It couldโve been a disaster, but in walked Patrick Lucey โ fighting, and swinging for his team. He finished unbeaten on 62* off 48 balls, scoring more than two-thirds of the Swansโ total and single-handedly dragging them to 90.
But the chase was one-way traffic. Khundmeer Syed (30* off 18) channeled Travis Head with fearless intent, and Eshaan Mohammed (50* off 28) looked like he was batting on a different pitch โ sweet timing, clever placement, and fireworks galore. The target was erased in just 9.3 overs.
Result: Louisville Sloggers win by 7 wickets
New Yorkers ๐ฝ v Fenders ๐ต๐
By Game 2, the wind had dialed up to ridiculous, turning the boundary hunt into a full-on cardio session. Sent in to bat, the New Yorkers had to earn every run the hard way. Ravi Varma anchored with a superb 43 off 45, including one towering six that had people ducking. He was well supported by Shiraz Khan (24 off 30) and Rahul Reddy Adunuthula (21 off 17), helping the team post a fighting 100.
The Fenders' bowlers rose to the moment. Mark Pawson put on a masterclass (2/2 off 2), doing Richie Benaud proud. Kyle Chard (1/17 off 4) was consistent and composed, while the entire attack kept wides and extras to a minimum โ no small feat in that breeze.
Highlight moment? Justin Biggs โ arguably the most athletic man in the league โ pulled off an absolute screamer at third man. Sprinting to his left, at full-stretch, and grabbing the ball one-handed with his left mitt. Unreal.
In reply, Fenders opened with clear intent. While others swung big smashing boundaries, Xavier Snowman played the anchor. He finished with a gritty 42 off 35 โ no boundaries, just elite placement and relentless running. It was controlled, clever cricket that saw the Fenders home with four wickets in hand.
Result: Fenders win by 4 wickets
Philadelphia Sixers ๐ v Texas Range Hitters ๐ค
The final match of the day almost ended before it began โ Texas lost 5 wickets inside the first 5 overs. Anjineyulu Boya (3/21 off 4) and Shanmukh (2/22 off 4) were unplayable early, leaving Texas reeling.
But cometh the hour, cometh the fight. Harsha Kolupoti (31 off 27) and Krithin Arukala (36* off 38) dug deep. It wasnโt flashy, it was gritty โ lots of hard running, smart strike rotation, and just enough aggression to lift their side to 103.
The Sixers came out looking calm and confident. Sejan (26 off 22) and Anjal Bhattarai (39 off 38) had things in control โ at one stage, they needed just 18 runs off 27 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
Then came the twist. The Range Hitters locked in. Avinash Sharma (1/20), Sourabh Gujar (2/24), Paras Agrawal (2/19), and the always dependable Omer Furqan Mohammed (2/7 off 4) applied pressure like pros.
With 5 balls left and 3 needed to win, the Sixers had their last batter in under LMS rules โ only a 2, 4 or 6 would score. Priyank Bore fired in a perfect yorker, squeezed out as the batsmen took on the field for a couple of runs. But some lightning-fast fielding got the ball back to the keeper and boom โ run out complete. Texas by two runs in a game that will be talked about all season.
Result: Texas Range Hitters win by 2 runs
