It’s not going to work 🤪

Hi 👋 I’m Brittany .gymnastics.pt - former NCAA gymnast & Doctor of Physical Therapy gymnastics specialist for injury prevention and recovery.

Those things might feel good.

And provide temporary relief…. But they won’t create lasting long term changes and will keep you coming back, booking appointment after appointment (it’s almost like it’s by design 🤑)

Lasting change comes from…
- Looking at the sport your child does, what it demands of their body, and figuring out which of her limitations led to her getting the back pain in the first place.

The pain isn’t the problem & isn’t the thing that needs “fixing”

If you fix the movement patterns, strength, mobility issues, and stability your gymnast is lacking… the pain disappears 💨— not temporarily until the next appointment, but for good.

It doesn’t just come back the next time she tries a back walkover or yurchenko… it stays GONE because getting to the root of the issue created a real solution.

This is what I do for gymnasts every day.

A mom messaged me recently and said “I saw your post about back pain & I got teary eyed knowing we are NOT in that cycle anymore”

Her daughter went through my Targeted Recovery Program & has been pain-free, doing gymnastics ever since.

Comment “TRP” and I’ll message you to find out if that program could be right for your kiddo.

They did this differently ⬇️

Hi 👋 I’m Brittany .gymnastics.pt - former NCAA gymnast and your injury prevention and recovery gymnastics specialist!

I worked in an outpatient clinic as a PT for gymnasts.

I owned my own PT company treating gymnasts on-site at gyms.

I’ve done it all.

I know what works ✅ and what doesn’t 🙅‍♀️

Ankle sprains are so common in gymnasts.

And resting & icing after practice doesn’t fix the issue.

Here is what the gymnast who is working upgrades did:

1️⃣ When her ankle sprain kept hurting, she told her coaches and parents. Then got it evaluated.

🙅‍♀️The other gymnast taped it, took Advil and iced… until it was hurting her ALL the time, even at home & school.

2️⃣ She took some time off the skills that increased her pain but didn’t stop going to the gym. And when she couldn’t do the assignments, she got busy with conditioning, rehab, or drills.

🙅‍♀️The other gymnast was scared to rest & thought because her teammate kept going after ankle sprain, she should too & ended up having to take 6-weeks of complete rest in a boot. Only to have her pain get worse or come right back when she started to tumble again. And the cycle repeated.

3️⃣ She started a Gymnastics & Ankle Sprain Specific rehab program IMMEDIATELY! She got busy on consistent rehab exercises and didn’t miss a day!

🙅‍♀️After nothing worked, she went to PT 1x/wk and did a couple of stand exercises at home, then had the PT ice it & scrape it.

The biggest difference in this case is one gymnast took an ACTIVE role in their injury and one didn’t.

When your gymnast is in a sport like gymnastics, there is no time to play around with pain or injury.

There is no off season.

There is no area of gymnastics where you don’t need every part of your body to be functioning properly.

Stop messing around with “wait and see” and take action.

If you’re a parent of a gymnast and you’re tired of endless doc visits & “take time off” advice… you HAVE to do it differently.

If you’re serious about helping your gymnast recover from her chronic ankle pain…

If your gymnasts hips pinch 👇COMMENT “TRP”

More stretching isn’t the answer and this isn’t going to fix it.

Hip pinching & pain is from unstable, weak hips… not inflexible ones.

This routine is simply a good warm-up for proper Square hips & correct hip flexor elongation 🤏👏❤️

To stop painful, popping hips… your gymnast will need a strength & stability program to lock-in that hip joint!

Comment “TRP” 👇 and I’ll help you figure out what program your gymnast needs.

Here it is… 👇

I was a gymnast for 16 years, from tots to GIJO to level 10 to college. It took me until my 30’s to realize a few things about gymnastics and the impact it had on my life…

So I want to share them:
- you may not realize it now but gymnastics will always be your first love. It will always carry a special place in your heart. And it probably was also your first heartbreak.

- gymnastics was probably the first time you ever experienced REAL pain and REAL sense of accomplishment all at the same time.

- the gym raised you. The teammates and coaches were your second home and family. The love you have for those people will forever be in your heart. Even if those coaches yelled at you or expected hard things from you…

- speaking of hard things, gymnastics was probably the first place in your life you were asked to do REALLY hard scary things. And the thing was, you did them and then moved on to the next really scary hard thing. This will serve you in life.

- your years in the gym probably broke you a little. It’s okay, I mean this in a productive way because we all have things that break us and shape us. But as you get older, make sure you deal with those feelings or they will fester.

- the smell of a gym will give you the feeling that you need to get upside down immediately upon smelling it. It will NEVER go away.

- you will NEVER lose the simple skills you gained. You will forever have the ability to cartwheel and handstand and so much more BUT you have to train it. Skill is engrained in you, strength is not.

- your body will creek, crack, pop, snap, and everything else forever. But heck, I’d rather have that than never have flown 8 feet in the air and landed on my feet.

- you’ll probably have gymnastics nightmares your whole life. I thought they’d go away, but I’m still at a meet forgetting my grips or my Leo in my dreams.

- you might find yourself avoiding talking about gym because people just don’t understand, but true friends will listen, try to understand, love & support you.

And… that’s all IG will let me post. 🥹🫶🏼

This is what she did that changed her life 👇

Hi 👋 I’m Brittany .gymnastics.pt - former NCAA gymnast & Doctor of Physical Therapy gymnastics specialist for injury prevention and recovery.

This is a level 10 gymnast that chose to do something differently…

She had tried regular physical therapy appointments, all the tools, tricks and bracing… but the pain remained, she kept rolling her ankles, & surgery was still on the table.

Rehab for high-level gymnasts needs more than basic PT exercises…

This gymnast got better with:
- A gymnastics rehab expert in her corner
- The right exercises that were built for gymnastics
- Steady, specific return to gymnastics plan

So much better that…
- No surgery was needed
- She had stability the doctor couldn’t believe
- Pain was gone!

And… the best of all, a great season with confidence she didn’t even know she could have!

I want this for every gymnast.

Comment “TRP” for details on the rehab plan this gymnast used for her ankle pain & instability!

I knew it all along, I just had to prove it to myself.

Comment “TRP” to get your injured gymnast what she really needs to heal…
… a program backed by a decade of trying to do it how they said I should only to come back to the truth & finally get real lasting results for gymnasts🫶🏼

It’s not what they keep saying…

Hi 👋 I’m Brittany .gymnastics.pt - former NCAA gymnast & Doctor of Physical Therapy gymnastics specialist for injury prevention and recovery.

“She has inflammation in her ###x tendon.”

Let’s get something straight…
➡️ Inflammation isn’t a CAUSE of something, it’s a RESULT of something else.

Addressing the indignation alone with rest, ice, Advil, injections, etc. almost NEVER results in long term results that last, because…

👉 Instability and lack of strength caused the inflammation to begin with.

So if you just address the inflammation WITHOUT addressing the instability and weakness… the pain only temporarily decreases.

Your gymnast needs a plan that includes getting to the bottom of why she got inflamed to being with.

So she doesn’t just feel better, but stay that way.

And, ends up…
- With better power
- Less fear of injury
- More confident
- Stronger
- And not constantly hurt

Comment “TRP” and I’ll show you the program I use for gymnasts who are ready for strong & stable ankles that don’t hurt all the time!
