Proof that you truly cannot out-exercise a bad diet. 👇🏼
I just got back from a 48-minute outdoor walk. I covered 2.75 miles, got in over 5,200 steps, and honestly felt great. But look at the data from my Oura ring: 181 active calories burned. (Essentially 150-180ish calories for almost 50 minutes of movement).
For context, 180 calories is:
• A small handful of almonds 🌰
• Just over one tablespoon of peanut butter 🥜
• Half a standard protein bar 🍫
• A single slice of bread with a little butter 🍞
If my only goal for moving was to “burn off” what I eat, I’d be in for a very frustrating journey.
This is exactly why nutrition is the foundation of any health or body composition goal.
Exercise is incredible for your heart, your mental health, your joints, and your sleep…but when it comes to managing your energy balance, what you put on your plate does 80-90% of the heavy lifting.
Moving your body is about celebrating what it can do and keeping yourself healthy. Fueling your body is where the real changes happen.
Don’t workout to “earn” your food. Train for your health, eat for your goals. 🚶🏼♂️✨
