Their Desire to help has in turn given DESIRE to the youth of our community D for discipline, E for experience, S for strength, I for interest, R for respect and E for ethics. In the 60 years of the program RLL has “graduated” thousands of boys and girls who have gone on to many fields of endeavor. They have been given DESIRE and thus have profited by the participation in our national game under p
roper supervision. In the 1967 came the crowning achievement of the program in the Roseland community of the Chicago when one of our tournament teams advanced to the coveted Little League World Series. The North Roseland Little Leaguers reached the finals there, losing out to West Tokyo, Japan. In so doing they became directly international runners –up and indirectly the national champions! Roseland Little League Baseball Organization, Inc., is a non-for-profit organization. As the neighborhood changed over the years so did RLL, and the little league fields somehow plummeted. Chicago’s 9th Ward Alderman, Anthony A. Beale, President Eric Tabb and Player Agent Rick Attreau alone with over 100 volunteers cut grass, cleared weeds, painted and did everything necessary to start the 2000 season. From humble but enthusiastic and purposeful beginnings in our first season of 1952 (one league, one playing field, 6 teams, 90 boys), we have progressed to an annual outlay of 5 leagues, 4 playing fields, 30+ teams and over 500 boys and girls. Since the rebirth of RLL, the organization has created four fantastic baseball fields at two locations. The Junior League field (390’ straight center , 335’ down the lines) along with one little league field(200’ all around) are both located at 25 East 111th Street, Chicago, IL on the Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory H.S campus. The other two fields (195’ all around) are located at our main site 12483 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL. All of our fields feature television quality night lights, covered bleachers electronic score boards, underground sprinklers, full service concessions stands and convenient restroom facilities. Currently RLL caters to both boys and girls ages 5-18 years old. We have 5 teams in the major league division, 5 teams in the minor league division, 7 teams in the p*e wee division and 1 junior league team and 1 senior league team, RLL won the District 4 pennant in 2005 in both the 11 year old and the major divisions.
