Media moments are pivotal strategy moves. And they don’t happen without intention… and most of all, it requires a champion. Someone who fully believes in the message. Who will go above and beyond, put the reputations on the line for that sound bite, placement, interview, coverage, or the big morning platform.

I am! Somebody!

The way he said those words, the rumbling power…the heads that were held higher, the chests that stuck out a little more, the stature to stand taller…
That is the gift Rev. Jackson has seeded for generations to come.
There are many tales to tell, which may be the most powerful, yet were never captured on cell phones for instant hot takes and hashtags.
Those moments for me span the halls of WVON: from the live broadcast of the historical conversation between Rev. Jackson and Min. Farrakhan, the times I sat on the other side of the glass as the board operator listening to the absolute genius as Rev. Jackson filled in for Cliff Kelly.
Or the days after my childhood church home, Pilgrim Baptist Church, burned down. Rev. Jackson and his PUSH staff opened the doors for us to fellowship and grieve.
He offered PUSH for Sunday services until other arrangements could be made.
He was profound and prolific.

Or the time just last year when he was wheeled into a restaurant where my husband and I were dining. The entire place cheered. Even in his wheelchair, he posed for pictures and seemed to be soaking up the attention. Relishing in the mark he had made in his lifetime.
My husband and I chose to allow him space…
He was a giant.

Still, one of the most powerful testimonies is that I got to expose my babygirl to his legacy.

We are indeed blessed because Rev. Jesse Louis Jackson lived in this realm during our lifetime.
May the ancestors welcome him into the spiritual realm.

Whew, if you all only knew the effort it took to get this posted. 🤧 phone Storage issues but Dear God, here we go…

I came out of hibernation so I could support soirée event to position and connect powerful Black women. The atmosphere was curious, open, and kinetic!
Not to mention the swankness and intention to host the event inside walls held up by 💴
The panelists were sharp. The moderator asked thoughtful and revealing questions… and of course my lil sis and visionary moved with purpose.
Glad I came out and risked it all.

Yet, doing the right thing is the only true path to resistance. It is the only way to right wrongs.
Doing the right thing simply requires courage.
And what history has taught us, big or small, doing the right thing is what legacies are made of.

Where has remembering changed your decisions?
My FB memories prompted me to remember… and how remembering can be confirmation.
See, thirteen years ago, I visualized something. 👁️
I spoke it.
I shared it publicly.

Then in 2022, it manifested fully—a return to my childhood neighborhood to give back and build something rooted in the place my Great-Grandfather first migrated his family in the 1920s.
That vision is the Ladies Lair today. 🤏🏾
It serves as our operations space.
And it’s also a sanctuary.💟
A place for Black women and girls to dream, rest, support, exchange, and belong. 💭 🫱🏿‍🫲🏾 📸 ✍🏾 🫂

A living library of Black girlhood and womanhood.
A space shaped by memory.
When I sit there, I remember my aunt’s beauty salon— 💇🏽‍♀️ 
the energy, the sisterhood, the lessons passed quietly and boldly at the same time.

I remember learning woman ways.
Entrepreneurship. 💴 
Survival. ❤️
Girl Talk 🫶🏾
Escape Plans.
Mutual Aid.
Always belonging.
I remember getting lost in books.📚 
Finding myself in stories that reflected me back to myself.🪞
Remembering shaped what I built.
And who I built it for.
Now, the Ladies Lair is opening its doors for rental—
inviting more memory, more dreaming, more creation.
Memory in motion is powerful.

I’ve been calling into myself… contemplating things like “What practice keeps you upright?”
Not productive.
Not impressive.
Upright.

And I’m discovering that, for me, it’s learning how to listen to my body again.
Listening for when it says pause.
Listening for when it says keep going.
Listening for when it says this isn’t yours to carry anymore.
Listening to what is maladaptive and what is elevating.
Upright looks like staying aligned when the wind blows.
It looks like honoring cycles.
It looks like choosing care without apology.
It looks like choosing me.
I’m returning to the practices that steady me—
storytelling, reflection, breath, creation, and community.
So I ask you…

Move Beyond the Block means releasing the noise, the naysayers, and the need for validation—so you can fully step into your assignment with clarity, confidence, and divine alignment.
Keep going. Protect the vision. It was given to you on purpose. ✨💜

There’s a particular kind of vision that God whispers directly to you—the kind that doesn’t come by committee, consensus, or crowds. It’s the kind entrusted to your spirit because only you have the lived experience, the courage, and the divine assignment to carry it through.

Everybody’s ambitions, projections, and opinions cannot be allowed to swirl around what God entrusted to YOU.

So these days, I’m choosing to guard the vision, refine my circle, and walk boldly in what I’ve been called to build—for myself, for our girls, and for generational healing.

— with quiet, with clarity, and with the confidence that obedience is its own form of peace.
I’m learning that discernment really is a discipline.
Read that twice!

And when we choose to Move Beyond the Block, we start honoring the vision by:
✨ getting quiet so your discernment can sharpen,
✨ living your values so the right people recognize alignment,
✨ releasing the noise so purpose can rise without distortion.
And the beauty is — The Most High never asks us to figure any of this out alone.
Scripture stays giving us the blueprint.
One I return to often is Proverbs 3:5–6:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will direct your path.
Simple. Clear. And true.

If God whispered it to you… trust it.
And protect it like the sacred assignment it is. ✨💜

Artificial intelligence will never subvert authentic imagination; nor will it surpass aligned insight.

So many show up trying to fit in.
They assimilate.
They imitate.
They play it safe.

Yet, when you are clear about assigned purpose, you move in authenticity.
You rely on your imagination as your guide.
And alignment becomes your qualifier.

Authenticity may disrupt spaces that foster conformity.
Yet, it is what remains after the dust settles.

Rely on your true talents and gifts…

BE the originator.
