We turned FIVE this May! 🎂 Now, it’s time to celebrate—potluck style!

Read & Run Chicago’s Special Project Committee invites you to join us at (440 N Wells) on Wednesday, June 3 from 6-8pm for food and community.

Whether you’ve been a tried and true community member since the early days or just found out about us last week, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Wear: Sport your favorite piece of Read & Run Chicago merch or gear from your favorite Chicago local business.

👉 Bring: Gently used books + a dish to share.

📚 Gently used books: Read & Run Chicago is sponsoring two new Little Free Libraries. Bring book donations of Chicago-based and running-themed books so we can stock the shelves.

🍔 Dish: We’re giving a nod to Chicago’s diverse culinary treasures by inviting readers & runners to bring a homemade dish from a Chicago bookbook (need ideas? We got you covered).

If you’re able to contribute a dish, sign up on our linked spreadsheet on the RSVP page and bring the cookbook with you to the party to display. (No need to purchase–we encourage you to borrow from your local library branch.)

📣 Chicago readers & runners, we need your help!

What started as one person, one book, and one run through Chicago has grown into 120+ events across 30+ neighborhoods, partnerships with local bookstores/libraries/businesses, and a community of people who believe stories can help us better understand where we live. 🌆

This spring, we’re raising $25,000 by June 26 to keep our free programming free and our ticketed events affordable.

Your support helps us continue:

📚 hosting story-driven events
🏃 creating movement for all paces
🏘️ exploring neighborhoods across Chicago
☕ supporting local businesses
✨ building meaningful community

📣 OJO: Tickets release June 1!

This summer, our signature events—the book-themed guided run, a format we created—take us to the South and (North)West Sides, exploring photography, community, and the people who make an impact.

Next up 👉 we’re headed to Logan Square!

Join us on Saturday, June 13 at 9:00 AM for a three and a half-mile running tour with guide Grace McGann () inspired by LGNSQ, a photography book
about the people and places that define Logan Square.

Along the way, see public art, community spaces, and local businesses and learn about the people who have worked to build and define this neighborhood.

After the route, savor on some pastries. 🤤🥐

No pre-reading required!

⏰ Tickets release in the newsletter on Monday, June 1. Any remaining tickets will release to the public on Wednesday, June 3.

See you there!
