People ask me this question all the time: “If you’re unhappy in a relationship, does that mean your partner should be unhappy too?” ☝️

Think about your job. Even when you’re frustrated, tired, or emotionally drained, you still regulate your emotions and continue doing your duties because you understand responsibility, discipline, and purpose.

So why don’t we apply some of that same emotional maturity in relationships?

Love is not only about feelings. It is also about responsibility, respect, communication, and consistency. Every relationship will have unhappy moments, disagreements, disappointments, and emotional seasons.

But if we quit our duties every time we feel unhappy, we create instability, pain, and confusion for the people we claim to love.

I realized something: A healthy relationship is not built only when we feel good. It is built when both people learn how to manage emotions without destroying the connection.

That doesn’t mean staying silent about pain or accepting disrespect. It means learning how to communicate, stay grounded, and still show care while working through difficult emotions.
