What caliber should you shoot?
It’s one of the most common questions we hear — and one of the most misunderstood.
The truth is, caliber alone doesn’t decide how well you perform when it matters.
What matters is control, accuracy, and consistency.
A caliber that’s easy for one person to manage may be difficult for another. More recoil doesn’t automatically mean better results. If a caliber causes flinching, missed shots, or hesitation, it’s working against you.
The best caliber is the one you can:
• Control confidently
• Shoot accurately
• Train with consistently
At Essential Defense Academy we help students understand how different calibers feel, behave, and affect performance — so they can make informed, responsible decisions based on real experience, not internet opinions.
Accuracy beats caliber. Every time.
