Missed July’s session? Join us August 26th!

Healing-Centered Sport 101 is a free virtual training for coaches, athletes, educators, and leaders who believe sport can be a space for healing and growth.

This session explores how trauma impacts the brain, body, and behavior of young people and introduces healing-centered approaches that can transform the way we coach and show up in sport environments.

If you care about building spaces where young people feel supported, connected, and seen, join us.

This week, we launched the LA Rams Youth Football Culture & Leadership Development Program with coaches from across Southern California.

We’re grateful to Rams Community for recognizing the power coaches have to shape the experiences of young people and for investing in their growth as leaders.

Our first session centered on a simple idea: every coach shapes the culture young people experience. Over the coming months, these coaches will continue growing the knowledge and practices that help sport become a place where every athlete can thrive.

NYC, registration is still open for our Mental Health Cohorts!

If you’re working with young people through sport, this space is for you.

These cohorts will explore why sport is uniquely positioned to support mental health and well-being, while equipping participants with practical tools to build environments that foster regulation and resilience. You’ll also join a growing network of coaches, educators, mental health practitioners, and community leaders committed to using sport as a force for good.

Visit the link in our to register, and share this with someone who should be part of the conversation.

What an incredible weekend at the Nike Coach Summit during WNBA All-Star Weekend at the Obama Presidential Center.

Together with Nike, we welcomed coaches committed to creating spaces where young female athletes can heal, grow, and thrive through sport. Coaching is about so much more than the game. It’s about building belonging and helping every young person feel safe and supported.

Huge thanks to Nike and the Obama Presidential Center and to the larger CHJS squad for bringing healing-centered coaching to life every single day. You showed out!

More stories and highlights on the way!

Sport has the power to support young people’s mental health, but only when it’s intentionally designed to create environments where they feel safe, seen, and supported.

Last week, our Director of Partner Impact, Joe Smith, joined leaders from around the world at the UN Youth Office’s One World, One Game, One Goal event to explore the healing power of sport and what it takes to build systems that truly support young people. The conversation reinforced that healing isn’t linear or short-term. It requires investing in trusted community organizations, creating spaces where young people feel valued, and continually reflecting on whether the experiences we’re creating actually align with what young people want and need.

Thank you to our partners at Luta pela Paz, the incredible panelists who shared their perspectives, and the United Nations Youth Office for convening this important conversation and continuing to elevate sport as a tool for youth well-being.

A special shoutout to Kayla McGoy, daughter of CHJS trainer Pardeice McGoy, whose perspective during the fireside conversation served as a powerful reminder that adults must continually reflect on the role they play in young people’s lives and whether they’re truly meeting young people where they are.

Every coach wants what is best for their athletes. But in systems that prioritize performance and winning, it’s easy to rely on methods that don’t reflect what we now know about how young brains develop.

Our free Healing-Centered Sport 101 training gives coaches practical, neuroscience-informed tools to help athletes feel safe, seen, and supported.

Join us July 22. Link in bio.

How we coach matters. It’s time to move beyond “tough love.”

Young people need more than access to sport. They need coaches who create environments where they feel supported and inspired to stay in the game.

Drop the tough. Just love.
