One of the biggest mistakes I see in jiu-jitsu is people accepting grips instead of fighting them.

The moment you allow your opponent to establish grips and just hang on, they have options.

They can attack.

They can set up submissions.

They can start their offense.

But when you aggressively grip fight, everything changes.

Now they’re not thinking about submitting you.

They’re thinking about keeping their grips.

They’re defending instead of attacking.

And the athlete who controls the grips usually controls the exchange.

Stop accepting grips.
