Buffalo Bill brought his Wild West show to Frontier day with 60 Indians from the
Sioux, Arapahoe, and Shoshone tribes were represented.

On September 6, 1898, approximately one hundred Sioux and over fifty Shoshone and Arapaho sat in a circle on the CFD grounds. After speeches from the leaders of each nation, they declared their ancient rivalry over, passed the peace pipe, and exchanged gifts of to***co and handshakes.

Historians have found no record that these nations ever formally made peace outside of this moment. It happened at Cheyenne Frontier Days. After the peace was made, the two groups performed together, and the second Frontier Days drew twenty thousand people, up from four thousand at the first.

During the Year of the American Indian, we had the opportunity to sit down with Mo Brings Plenty to talk about the opening of the Morning Star American Indian Village and the importance of honoring and sharing American Indian culture.

As a cultural advisor and advocate, Mo's guidance helped bring this meaningful vision to life on Frontier Park. We are grateful for his continued commitment to preserving and celebrating American Indian traditions.

From Friday-Monday, Frontier Park will be home to a couple events the whole family can enjoy.

🤠 Friday-Monday | National Team Roping Western Frontier Labor Day Celebration
Hosted by the National Team Roping, watch some of the best team ropers in the country compete beginning at 9 a.m. daily.

To watch the action:
• Enter through Gate V1
• Park in F Lot on the north side of the Carnival Midway
• Enter Portal 5 and take a seat in the B Stands

Food, and drinks will also be available throughout the event.

🥕 Saturday | Cheyenne Farmers' Market
Hosted by Community Action of Laramie County, the Farmers' Market is open 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Shop fresh produce, artisan breads, local honey, flowers, specialty foods, and more from vendors across Wyoming and Colorado. All proceeds benefit Community Action of Laramie County.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month, and we want everyone to know that they are not alone. The “Pick-Up Man” campaign continues to break the stigma around mental health, encourage open conversation, and connect people with the 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline.

In 2022, with the support of Garth Brooks, Cheyenne Frontier Days created the “Pick-Up Man” campaign. Inspired by the rodeo pick-up man who is always ready to help a cowboy in need, this campaign encourages each of us to be a “pick-up man” for the people in our lives, to reach out when we see someone struggling, and to ask for help when we need it ourselves.

Yellow feathers have become a powerful symbol of this effort. Worn in cowboy hat bands, the yellow feather represents su***de prevention awareness and signals that you are someone who is ready to help. It serves as a reminder that strength is not measured by how long you carry a burden alone, but by the courage it takes to reach out. To show your support, tuck a yellow feather into your hat band or explore official Pick-Up Man apparel and accessories at the Chute 10 Mercantile online store.

Rodeo communities are built on independence and grit, but no one should face mental health challenges in silence.

One small gesture can spark a meaningful conversation, offer comfort, and remind someone that help is always within reach. Working together, we can lift one another up and help save lives, one yellow feather at a time.

We were honored to welcome the legendary Dolly Parton to the Frontier Nights stage in 1978.

Happy National Dog Day!

Every year, the streets of Cheyenne are filled with four legged friends during the Cheyenne Frontier Days Grand Parades.

Whether they are riding in a wagon, or walking beside their owners, these parade pups always steal the show.

Thank you to all the dogs and their owners who help make our Grand Parades even more memorable. We cannot wait to see your favorite four legged friends back on the parade route next year!
