......and then Sunday....

The Blue Crew after a late night celebrating their first championship were back at it early on Sunday...

Finishing on a 5 set win streak...and 4 of those wins by double digits...

Start off the day Sunday against a very familiar foe...with the same name...The Algonac Aces Gold Team first thing in the morning...the friendly rivalry...for real this time...not on the practice courts...

Coach Chris told reporters...the looks in the girls eyes hadn't changed, they looked like they were focused, meant business and were not complacent with just one gold medal on the weekend...

Ainsley Harms SET THE TONE....taking a 4-3 set....and going nuclear on it...serving the set out...21 straight points!!! This tied a Club record with Emma Josefosky(class of 2028). She finished that match perfect as well...30 quality serves...along with 13 aces!! It was the most impressive entry to the 100% club that the Algonac Aces Organization has seen to date...two cheers to her for that performance...

The team did not slow down...winning set 2 25-13....extending the set win streak to 7 in a row....Arianna Lozen also joined the 100% club in this match with 5 quality serves...As a team...they only missed 4 serves that match.

Next up....MVC Walling...where 2 straight set wins...pushing the total win streak to 9 straight...Arianna Lozen and Ava Bird while they did not join the 100% club...they did not miss a serve during this match...and the team served 88% as a team... both of these wins by double digits as well...

Infinity Green...the host team was up next...and The Blue Crew once again...dominated set 1 25-11....and finally were pushed back against...winning set 2 25-18...ending their impressive streak of giving up less than 13 points in 8 straight sets...that in itself is impressive...this was the only match this weekend where not one member joined the 100% club...but Arianna Lozen and Rosie Griffin both had 12 or more serves in the match...

Starting the next match against a solid MVC Parslow team...6-0 and on an 11 set win streak...the girls rallied again to win set 1...25-16 pushing the streak to 12...

Going for number 13...down early...6-14.....and little Piper Rose coming to the serving line...she had yet to really find her stroke and while she had a killer serve...consistency had been lacking...no more...8 straight serves...7 points...now down only 1...her 8th and final serve of the day was returned from a front row hit...as Piper chased the 2nd ball down....

TRAGEDY STRUCK....BAM!!!!

Piper hit the poorly placed, non padded brick wall...she was tended to...and luckily avoided her head and any major injuries...but the wall popped the balloon...the energy that the girls were flying high on...gone...worried about their fallen comrade...she was a warrior though...she faught off tears...but even her inspiring time out taken by Coach Chris to make sure the team knew Piper was ok....was not enough...they finally dropped another set...20-25...

Reeling...and another injury was brought up...from the winning play of the first set...a beautiful set touch for a point by Harlow Luke...jammed her finger requiring some tape and ice to get her through the final match...

Addie Provost, Arianna Lozen both joined the 100% club with 5 perfect serves each with 2 aces to boot....Piper also joined that match..which was cut short with 8 quality serves...

Both Harlow and Piper dried their eyes...and got back to the team.....still not done...still a goal to acheive..

A very big challenge in front of them now...sitting at 7-1....with Crank It last on the docket....sitting at 6-2...this match was for the tournament championahip....

It did not start well...the size of Crank It proving to be a problem....as they started hot making the Aces pay for any over pass...the Aces Blue dropped set 1 19-25....

Between games Coach Chris looked each girl in the eyes...reminding them we have one more to go...making sure we are still here and we still control our own destiny...one game...win...GOLD MEDAL...Lose....you could drop to 3rd...

That confidence came out in droves...the noise preached all season in practice...LOCK IN....SET THE TONE...BE A GOLDFISH...WINSHEILD LADIES...WE GOT THIS...MAKE THEM MAKE MISTAKES...it was poetry in motion...it was a beautiful performance...

While this was the teams worst serving performance of the season...they still overcame the odds...and played absolutely incredibly...they weren't perfect but they still dominated when it counted...winning the 2nd set 25-14...taking the GOLD for the second straight day!!!!

Serving a season high 85% on the tournament...228 serves...195 quality...33 missed...but 60 ACES!!! And to top Saturday's performance...a rediculous +95 on the day...

It was a build up and release that these young warriors had been working for all season...they are a focused...energetic...and fun group of young ladies...

They earned this weekends success with an exclamation point...130 aces on the weekend...on 350 quality serves...414 serves over 2 days...11 100% entries...36 3 touch hits....+162 aggregate on the weekend...winning 14 sets..losing only 4....every single player on this team had at least 1 ace this weekend...every set a different player stood out...

Then...while our fellow Algonac Ace Gold Team was fighting for 3rd place...these young ladies took to the stands to cheer them on...made some noise and willed them to a solid 3rd place finish!!! Really displaying their phenominal sportsmanship!!

Coach Chris was not immediately available for comment...but did state:

"Look at their smiles, thats all you need to do...they are warriors"...

These young lady warriors can now call themselves Back To Back Champions!!!

ALGONAC ACES BLUE GO GOLD BACK TO BACK IN A MARATHON WEEKEND OF TOURNAMENT ACTION!!!!

The Algonac Aces Blue, or the BLUE CREW began the long weekend with a focused practice Friday night...the looks in their eyes said all Coach Chris needed to hear...these girls were on a mission...they have been itching for gold since dropping their final two matches in their last tournament....falling to 4th place in that tournament...

Saturday began where the previous tournament left off...against a tough IMVA Black....the same team that defeated them in the 3rd place match last tournament...and again...losing the first set...20-25....it looked like a repeat defeat was on the horizon...coming out of a time out with the match tied at 13...the Aces decided it was time to turn the heat up...and finished the match on a 12-4 run to win the set...and match on aggregate by a +3....Emma Mackie and Ainsley Harms earned themselves 100% club entries in the opening match....

Next up...A tough Team Detroit Honor team who once again...took set 1 21-25...sitting at 1-2 on the day...The Blue Crew locked in...and buried the competition...they took set 2 25-17....a +4...after this set....led by another perfect serving performance by Ainsley Harms with 9 perfect serves and 5 aces...and Arianna Lozen with 6 perfect serves on the match...

This match unlocked the Blue Crew who were flying all over the court...giving nothing easy...and serving at an extremely efficient rate...won the next 3 sets...at a +34...setting up a win or lose final set...Coach Chris setttled the girls as they began to wander to the "what if" scenarios...between sets, reminded the girls that we focus on what we control, the rest will fall how it will...

They absolutely dominated the next match....25-4...finishing 6-2 at an astonishing +67 on the day....to put into context the other team that finished 6-2, Voyager Volleyball...finshed the tournament a +24....Gold Champs by over 40 points...

The way this tournament ended was poetic....the final point scored on the day...a beautiful play from 3 returning players from last year. A beautiful bump from Harlow Luke...set by Ainsley Harms...and the finish...whoooooooo....the finish by Rosie Griffen back corner to close the game out...right in front of Coach Chris' face...it was an explosion he had been preaching all season....HIT THE BALL!!!! And she did...emphatically!!!!

There were 6 100% club entries from this tournament....Ainsley Harms x2, Emma Mackie, Quinn Thaler, Arianna Lozen, and Rosie Griffin all joined the 100% club...

While others did not join, Harlow Luke finished the final match 11/13 serving the final match..setting the tone for the team selflessly switching to her almost automatic underhand serve...to make sure we received quality serving during moments that called for it!!!

Addie Provost...while not as sharp as typical for her this season in terms of consistancy...had 8 Aces of her 9 quality serves...

While Piper Rose and Ava Bird did not join the ranks this tournament, they did have multiple matches where they did not miss a serve when called upon...they also played a phenomial tournament on the courts...

The energy this tournament however, came from a very suprising source....Ellen Vanatter...who to this point had yet to figure out her serve, she however...served 5/6 quality serves....and one match served 4 straight quality serves with 2 aces to close out a set!!!! The excitement from her teammates was a driving force in their success on Saturday!!! Coach Chris shed a tear when asked how he felt..."to see that young lady find success and have the amount of quality serves she did and be mauled by her teammates the way they did when she closed out that set, thats what great teams do, they became great in that moment..."

The team served 83% as a team...with a massive 70 Aces....but the play on the court, the lock in ability to just not give in...and not give many easy points against was impressive!!

ALGONAC ACES GOLD GIRLS STORM BACK TO TAKE 3RD IN ST. CLAIR!!!!

The tournament started slow...as the Algonac Aces Gold team took to the courts...down two players to illness...their first match of the day was to a team on a streak in the Algonac Aces Blue. First matches early in the morning are always tough...and dropping the two sets to the eventual tournament champs...

Coach Janice and Assistant Coach Hayden rallied these young ladies in a big way...winning 6 of their next 8 sets to finish the day with 6 wins and 4 losses. Storming back to win their final 3 sets to take home the bronze medal!!!

The Golden girls, while started slow, played inspired and focused volleyball throughout the tournament, even after a tough loss to their Aces counterparts the Blue Crew...they did not drop a set outright and won 3 of their 5 matches on total plus/minus...

Coach Hayden stated "I am so proud of these girls and the way that they have grown so much since the first day of practice!"

The Gold team has imoroved their overall serving percentage each of their first 3 tournaments...this tournament serving at an 82% clip as a team to go with 31 aces.

Savannah Friedmann led the way with a very impressive 48/50 serving day for 96% on the day. Earning 3 separate 100% club entrees in the first 3 matches...going 37 straight serves in her first 3 matches without a miss!! Add in 4 aces to the team total as well.

Delany Sullivan, who has been vocal during practices and has been focused on getting herself her 100% pin found that success on Sunday as well, as she served a perfect 8/8 quality serves in the last match which proved a must win for the Gold girls. She served an impressive 88% serving on the day..she went 35/40 quality serves...and led the team with 15 Aces!!!

These two young ladies really drove the bus with the quality of their serves and consistency...also finding one another on the court....developing a very impressive chemistry out there on the court. Something that Coach Janice emphasized in her post tournament interview...she stated that was a major factor to the teams success, pointing out a couple of extremely beautiful plays that the two made to save points and attack forward...one play having 3 straight tips turned to set/hit between the two.

Brooklyn Barnes quietly had a very nice day at the serving line missing only 2 serves all day...going 13/15 for 87% and 1 ace...but locked down the back row with some very nice bumps to keep plays alive.

Sammy Desmit also joined the 100% club once again...going 7 quality serves in a match without missing. Overall on the day went 23/27 good for 85% serving and had 3 aces.

Coach Janice emphasized how well these girls played and supported one another all day...picking one another up and playing hard for each other. She stated "I am so proud to see these girls continue to improve every tournament, it shows heart, grit, and determination"

The Algonac Aces Gold have now improved from a winless first tournament, to a 4th place finish, to a 3rd place finish...improving serving percentage each tournament as a team...

With one more difficult tournament at hand, we cannot wait to see what these girls can do next weekend in West Bloomfield!!

We do not only focus on wins and losses...

We preach supporting one another and backing one another up...we are all Algonac Aces...no matter which team you are on...you wear the same colors...the same logo...we will always teach and preach good sportsmanship and cheering for our fellow Aces success!!!

Our world is difficult...having friendly faces that support you and wish nothing but the best is important to have...there are always obsticals and those who want to see you fail...

Not in our club...we will always be rooting for you and cheering your successes!!!

Back to Back Gold medals for the Aces Blue!!!

After dropping the first set...(to the Blue Crew)

Our Golden Girls won 6 of their next 8 to storm back for a Bronze Medal finish!!!!

One more tournament on the docket for our Golden Girls next weekend!!! But what a performance today!!!

Every tournament...better and better!!!
